ARLINGTON, Texas (USA) -
Infielder Jurickson Profar has signed a new contract with the Texas Rangers, the club announced last Thursday (January 14).
By agreeing to a new contract, the Rangers avoided an arbitration hearing with the Curaçao-born player.
On Friday, the Rangers also agreed to a new contract with pitcher Tanner Scheppers and catcher Robinson Chirinos.

Under the new contract, Profar will earn 605,000 dollar this season.
The infielder didn't play for almost two years due to a shoulder-injury.
He is currently recovering from a surgery he undewent on February 23 of last year and is on a special throwing program.
Last year, he was activated again in August and played in 12 minor league-games as a designated hitter, while being on a medical rehabilitation assignment.
After completion of the season, he continued in the Arizona Fall League, playing in an additional 20 games.
In these games, he batted .267, homered twice and batted in 20 runs.
According to the Rangers, the club hopes that he will be ready for Spring Training and expect that he will start the season in Triple-A.
Profar, who turns 23 next month and who was the number one prospect in the Major League a few years ago, suffered a torn shoulder muscle during Spring Training in 2014 and underwent surgery in February of last year.
The switch-hitter returned to action in August last year when he was assigned to the Hickory Crawdads, the Single-A team of Texas.
There, he played in nine games, then was moved up to the Frisco RoughRiders, which plays in Double-A.
With Frisco, Profar played in three games and concluded his season on September 7.
At Hickory, he batted .273 (9-for-33) with a double and a homerun.
He scored two runs and batted in one.
For Frisco, he batted .200 (2-for-10) with a double and one RBI.
After completion of the season, Profar continued playing in the Arizona Fall League, working on his recovery.
On November 7, Profar played in the Fall Stars Game, the All Star Game of the Arizona Fall League.
Profar, who was the DH, went 2-for-3, walked twice, scored a run and stole two bases in the game playing for the AFL West-team.
Profar made a memorable Major League-debut on September 2, 2012, as he homered in his first at bat in an 8-3 win vs. Cleveland Indians.
He went on to play in nine games for the Texas Rangers, hiting 3-for-17 (.176).
In March 2013, Profar was added to the roster of the Netherlands Kingdom Team for the semi-final of the World Baseball Classic in San Francisco (USA).
In the 2013 season, Profar began the season in Triple-A, but on May 19 of that year, he was recalled to the big league-team and played in 85 Major League-games for the Rangers.
He finished the season with a .234 batting average (67-for-286) with 11 doubles and six homeruns, scoring 30 runs and batting in 26.
