HCAW rallies in 7th inning to stay unbeaten in Play-Downs
Nederlands
BUSSUM (Neth.) -
HCAW trailed 2-1, but then rallied for five runs in the seventh inning to win 6-2 vs. Pickles UVV on Thursday-evening (August 18).
With the win, HCAW remained unbeaten in the Play-Downs.
After sweeping DSS in last week's series, HCAW secured its spot in next years big league.
That is when you look to the rule that states that in case of a tie between two (or more) teams, the head-to-head results are decisive.
However, when you look to the rule that states that when two (or more) teams are tied for the same relegation-spot, the tie-breaker will be an one-game Play-Off.
The team that finishes in last place in the Play-Downs has to play a best-of-five Promotion/Relegation Play-Off, which can end in relegation.
With that, one can state that finishing in last place in the Play-Downs is a relegation-spot.
After last week's series, DSS still could end up in a tie with HCAW.
But with tonight's victory, HCAW becomes unreachable for DSS and so, it has secured its spot in the big league, whatever rule you look to or is used.
Trailing 2-1, HCAW scored five runs in the seventh on five hits, including a 2-run single by Vince Rooi and a 2-run double by Kevin Nieveld.
