Curaçao Neptunus vs. Santa Rosa Indians
It was another great day to play baseball, as it was 28 degrees Celsius (82 Fahrenheit) when the game went underway tonight at Tio Daou Ballpark, the home field of Santa Rosa Indians, which today was the opponent of Neptunus.
Kenny Van Den Branden started for Neptunus and had a great outing.
The Belgian righthander retired the first ten batters he faced, six of them with a strikeout.
He struckout the side in the first inning.
Neptunus, which was the home team, struck early, scoring five runs in its first at bat off starter Marvin Ludowika.
Seven of the first eight batters reached base.
Dwayne Kemp led off with a single, then the bases got loaded when Rien Vernooij also singled and Raily Legito walked.
Next batter Gianison Boekhoudt then also singled, which produced two runs.
The bases got loaded again when a fly into the outfield by Dashenko Ricardo was missed.
Urving Kemp then grounded out, but that also brought in the third run.
Hereafter, Daniel Fernandes delivered a runscoring single.
After Christian Diaz walked to load the bases for the third time in this at bat, Ricardo scored the fifth run on a sacrifice fly by Shaldimar Daantji.

After Neptunus reached base only once in the next two innings, the Indians narrowed the deficit to 5-3 by scoring three runs in the top of the fourth.
With one out, Van Den Branden gave up a homerun to Brandao, then got the bases loaded with two outs when Peters and Isenia walked and Jozefa reached on an infield-hit.
A single by Gibson then brought in two runs and made it 5-3.
Neptunus got two runs back in its fourth at bat.
Shaldimar Daantji led off with a double and scored on a following single by Dwayne Kemp.
The latter then stole second base and went on to score the next run on an one-out double by Raily Legito.
In the fifth inning, Steven van Groningen took over the pitching for Neptunus.
He hit his first batter, but then retired the next three batters, the last two with a strikeout.
Neptunus lifted the lead to 8-3 in the fifth inning off of former Major League-pitcher Shairon Martis, who took over the pitching from reliever Marc Hennep.
The righthander, who also pitched in several games for the Netherlands Kingdom Team, gave up an one-out homerun to Urving Kemp.
Martis is the lone pitcher in the history of the World Baseball Classic to throw a No-Hitter.
He did it when he pitched for the Orange squad against Panama in the first edition in 2006.
The Indians stranded two runners in the sixth off of Van Groningen, who was relieved by Kevin Kelly in the seventh.
He struckout three batters, while issuing a walk with one out.
