L&D Amsterdam Pirates vs. Vaessen Pioniers
Starting pitcher Dennis Burgersdijk had a strong outing for the Amsterdam-squad and needed only 93 pitches in the eight innings he pitched.
Burgersdijk struckout a career-high ten batters.
His previous high was eight, which he accomplished on June 2, 2013 when he started for UVV and threw seven innings in a 4-0 win against HCAW.
Both teams got one baserunner in the first two at bats.
For Pioniers, Quintin De Cuba led off the second inning with a walk, but was later eliminated in an inning-ending double play.
For Pirates, Gilmer Lampe singled with two outs in the first inning, but he was caught stealing after a pick-off.
In the top of the third inning, Amsterdam-starter Dennis Burgersdijk struckout the side and with that had struckout five batters in the first three innings.
In the bottom of the third, the righthander was supported with a run.
With one out, Koen Nooij singled off of Pioniers-starter Nick Keur.
He then was awarded second base when a balk was called on Keur.
The lefthander struckout next batter Max Clarijs, but at the same time, Nooij stole third base, then scored when a throwing error followed.
Burgersdijk gave up his first basehit in the fourth inning when Austin Weymouth singled with one out, but he stranded on first base.
Amsterdam doubled its lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with two outs.
Gilmer Lampe led off with a walk, advanced on an one-out bunt-single by Remco Draijer, then scored on a 2-out single by Rashid Gerard.
Amsterdam added two unearned runs in the sixth inning off of Jonatan Isenia, who then took over the pitching for Keur.
With one out, he hit Danny Rombley with a pitch, who stole second base with two outs.
Kenny Berkenbosch then walked and the bases got loaded when Rashid Gerard reached on an error.
Koen Nooij followed with a 2-run single that increased the lead to 4-0.

In the meantime, Dennis Burgersdijk dominated on the mound for Amsterdam Pirates.
After giving up the single to Weymouth in the fourth inning, he retired the next six batters in a row.
With two outs in the sixth, he gave up a single to Zerzinho Croes, but he was forced out.
Burgersdijk retired the Pioniers-side for the fourth time in the seventh inning, then gave up only his third basehit in the eighth.
Pinch-hitter Kevin Dirksen then led off with a single, advanced on a wild pitch and moved to third base on a grounder by pinch-hitter Glen Bakker.
But he stranded there, as Burgersdijk closed with his tenth strikeout in the game.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Amsterdam increased the lead with three more runs off of new pitcher Jonah Van Bemmelen.
The American-Dutch submariner was greeted with a lead-off single by Remco Draijer, who then stole second base.
With two outs, pinch-hitter Linoy Croes was hit by a pitch.
Hereafter, Max Clarijs delivered a 2-run single, then scored himself when Nick Urbanus followed with a triple down the rightfield-line to make it a 7-0 score.
In the top of the ninth inning, Tom de Blok took over for Burgersdijk and retired the side, including two strikeouts.
