Game 6 - Colombia vs. Panama (Final)
In the first few innings, both teams stranded runners.
Colombian-starter Nabil Crismatt retired the side in the first inning, then allowed two batters to reach in the second at bat.
With one out, Javier Guerra walked and Carlos Quiroz singled, but both stranded.
He then retired the side again in the third.
Panamian-starter Ariel Jurado gave up a 2-run single to Reynaldo Rodríguez in the first inning.
He stole second base, but then was left behind.
After he retired the side in the second, Jurado gave up two basehits in the third.
Luis Martínez led off with a single, followed by two strikeouts, but then Dilson Herrera also singled off of new pitcher Humberto Mejia, but also stranded.
In the top of the fourth inning, Panama opened the score.
With one out, Carlos Ruiz doubled, then Javier Guerra was walked intentionally to set up a force play.
But hereafter, Carlos Quiroz singled to bring in Ruiz and put Panama ahead.
Yesid Salazar took over the Colombian pitching in the fifth and retired the side, as did Mejia in the bottom of the fifth.
But in the bottom of the sixth, Colombia came alongside.
With one out, Mejia hit Reynaldo Rodríguez with a pitch and was replaced by Alberto Acosta.
With two outs, he also hit Mauricio Ramos with a pitch and then gave up a single to Adrian Sánchez that enabled Rodríguez to score the tying run.
In the eighth, Dilson Herrera became the hero for Colombia, as he led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a homerun off of new pitcher Manny Corpas, making it 2-1.
Colombia got two more baserunners in this inning, but they were left behind.
In the top of the ninth, closer Carlos Díaz retired the side to seal the win!
And with that, Colombia qualified for the World Baseball Classic.
