De Glaskoning Twins vs. Theo Meijer Quick Amersfoort
Twins scored four runs in the first inning, led 8-1 after four innings, then decided the game with an 8-run rally in the fifth at bat. Twins collected 15 basehits, including four by Jarreau Martina, who doubled and tripled and only missed the homerun to hit-for-the-cycle. Martina, who last season played in the Dutch big league for HCAW, also scored four runs and also batted in four runs.

Dennis van den Bunt was the starting pitcher for Quick Amersfoort. And that is familiar name in the history of the club. He is the nephew of Rijk van den Bunt, who pitched for the club in the big league in the late seventies. Later, he became the wellknown and enthousiastic public address announcer of Quick Amersfoort and in recent years, he covered games of teams who are based in the center of the country for local radio-channel Radio M Utrecht.

In the first inning, Van den Bunt gave up four runs. He walked lead-off hitter Nick Peels, then gave up a single to Jarreau Martina, which was followed by a runscoring single by Shurty Tremus and a 2-run double by Jeffrey Arends. The latter scored the fourth run on a sacrifice fly by Chris Ge.

In the second inning, Van den Bunt was supported with a double play, but Twins then added two more runs in the third. Jarreau Martina led off with a single, stole second base and moved on a single by Shurty Tremus. He then scored on a single by Jeffrey Arends, then a passed ball led to the next run.

Belgian hurler Cedric Desmedt started for Twins and threw three scoreless innings. He gave up a lead-off double to Kevin Windster in the first inning and walked Wesley Bernardus with one out, but Twins then turned a double play. Quick left two runners in the second inning, was retired in order in the third, then scored its lone run in the game in the fourth. With two outs, Bas Nooij singled, then a hit by Remi Denis was missed in the outfield. A single by Gino Rosario loaded then bases, then Nooij scored when another error was made on a grounder by Roy de Busser. But that also led to the third out. Denis also tried to score, but was eliminated at the plate.

Twins answered with two runs in its fourth off of new pitcher Aaron Isenia. With two outs, Dennis De Quint and Nick Peels walked. They both scored when Jarreau Martina followed with a triple.

Twins then rallied for eight runs in the fifth inning. With one out, the next eight batters reached base safely. With the bases loaded, runscoring singles followed by Mick Molenaar, Bob van der Meer and Bart Janssen, while an error accounted for another run. The bases were re-loaded when Nick Peels walked and that led to a pitching change. Weskey Bernardus, who had started the game as short stop, took over, but he was greeted with a 2-run double by Jarreau Martina, his fourth basehit in the game. A sacrifice fly by Shurty Tremus and a a double by Berry van Donselaar brought in two more runs and lifted the lead to 16-1.

In its last three at bats, Quick Amersfoort got only two baserunners. In the fifth, with two outs off of new pitcher Matthew Latta, Kevin Windster walked, but stranded. In the sixth, Bas de Jong singled with one out, but then Bas Nooij grounded into a double play. Brendan Schoemaker then threw the seventh inning and struckout the side, which ended the game.
