DSS vs. UVV
In today's game, UVV's Head Coach Ferenc Jongejan used three pitchers, who joined the team in the off-season. All three came to the club after having played for Mampaey The Hawks, which regelated last season from the Dutch big league. And so, Kevin van Veen, Jose Moreno and Quinn Tramm today took the mound for their new club.

Starter Van Veen gave up two runs in the three innings he pitched. In the first inning, Melvin Perdue led off with a walk and went on to score on a 2-out triple by Sven van der Sanden.

In the third, DSS doubled its lead when Mitchel Dautzenberg led off with a single and scored on a 2-out single by Ryan Miner.

DSS-starter Mike Groen threw three scoreless innings, then was relieved by Gijs Timmer, a newcomer in the staff of the Haarlem-club. He ran into problems, as UVV rallied for four runs in the fourth at bat. Timmer walked the first two batters he faced, then gave up a 2-run single to Tony Enos that tied the score. With one out, Rick Kuipers added a runscoring single to put UVV ahead and a sacrifice fly by Cecil Comenencia made it 4-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, DSS got a run back off of Jose Moreno. He initially was succesfull after giving up a single to Joffrey Heus, as he picked him off first base. But hereafter, he gave up a single to Mitchel Dautzenberg, who later was awarded a next base on a balk, then scored on a passed ball.

DSS narrowed the deficit to 5-4 in the sixth inning. Seb Visser and rookie Tristan Kim singled to put runners on first and third base, then a grounder by Damian Melis, another rookie, led to the run.

UVV took more distance in the top of the seventh inning off of Mark van Deursen. He walked rookie Tim Veraghtert, then gave up a single to Sven Jongejans, which was followed by the second homerun in the game by Omar Williams that made it an 8-4 score.

DSS had one run left in its seventh when Ryan Miner walked with two outs and scored on a single by Seb Visser.

In 31 regular season-games last season, Williams hadn't homered for UVV.
