Jurickson Profar sent to Triple-A
Nederlands

JUPITER / PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida / PHOENIX / SURPRISE, Arizona (USA) - On Monday (March 21), four Dutch professionals played in the Major League Spring Training-games.

Also on Monday, at its Spring Training-camp in Surprise, the Texas Rangers have sent short stop Jurickson Profar to the Round Rock Express, it's Triple-A team. Besides Profar, the Rangers also sent three of its prospects to the Minor League, being third baseman Joey Gallo and outfielders Nomar Mazara and Lewis Brinson. Profar played in 85 games for the Rangers in the Major League in 2013, but then missed two complete seasons due to a shoulder-injury. He returned into action in August last year in Single-A and Double-A, but then was used as a designated hitter only. He played his first defensive games during the current Spring Training. The Rangers want Profar to be the every-day short stop in its Triple-A team.

At Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, the New York Mets lost 2-1 to the visiting Miami Marlins, which scored both runs in the eighth inning.

Roger Bernadina started in rightfield for the Mets and was 0-for-1, but walked three times.

In the bottom of the second inning, Bernadina lined out to rightfielder Ichiro Suzuki.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Mets had runners on first and second base with two outs when a pitching change was made by the Marlins. Brad Hand took over, but began with a wild pitch that moved both runners. Bernadina then walked to load the bases, but the three runners were left behind when a flyout followed.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Mets got the bases loaded again off of Kyle Barraclough. With two outs and a runner on first base, Bernadina walked again, then next batter Kevin Plawecki was hit by a pitch to load the bases. This time, a grounder followed and again three runners were left behind.

In the eighth, Bernadina walked for the third and stranded for the third time. He was then replaced in the top of the ninth inning.

At Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, the Boston Red Sox visited the St. Louis Cardinals and won 4-3.

Xander Bogaerts started as short stop for Boston and was 0-for-4.

Bogaerts grounded out in the first inning, struckout in the third, then grounded out again in the fifth and seventh inning. He was then replaced in the bottom of the seventh.

At Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix, a split-squad of the Milwaukee Brewers won 4-3 against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Andrelton Simmons was the lead-off hitter for the Angels and was the DH today. He batted 0-for-4.

In the first inning, he led off the game with a grounder off of Matt Garza. In the third, he again led off with a grounder and he then flied out in the fourth. In the seventh, Simmons grounded out for the third time and he was then replaced by a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning.

At Camelback Ranch-Glendale in Phoenix, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost 6-3 to the visiting Seattle Mariners.

With the Mariners already leading 6-3, Kenley Jansen pitched the seventh inning for the Dodgers. The righthander retired the side, including one strikeout.
