DSS vs. L&D Amsterdam Pirates
DSS scored twice in the first inning off of Kevin Heijstek, who started for Amsterdam, which played without regulars Kenny Berkenbosch and Nick Urbanus.
American Melvin Perdue led off with a triple, then scored on a following single by rookie Koen Halderman.
The latter moved when an error was made on a sacrifice bunt by Ryan Miner.
With two outs, the two runners advanced on a wild pitch, then Halderman scored when Seb Visser reached on another error.
That was the last time that Heijstek ran into problems, as he dominated from the second inning on.
He ended the first inning with a strikeout and fielding a comeback-grounder.
In the following six innings, the righthander allowed only two more batters to reach base.
From the second inning on, Heijstek faced the minimum of 18 batters.
With two outs in the second inning, he walked Melvin Perdue, but he was caught stealing.
Heijstek then retired the next 12 batters in a row and then walked lead-off hitter Seb Visser in the seventh, but he was eliminated in an inning-ending double play.
Rookie Donny Breek made his first big league-start for DSS after having made his big league-debut last weekend pitching in relief.
He gave up a 2-out double to Gilmer Lampe in the first inning, followed by a single by Danny Rombley, but they were left behind.
From the second inning on, Pirates was more productive off the righthander, who is the son of former big league-pitcher Jerry Breek.

Amsterdam got a run back in the second inning.
Rashid Gerard led off with a single, moved on a grounder and scored on a 2-out single by Jesse Aussems, who later was eliminated at the plate trying to score on a single by Linoy Croes.
Amsterdam then turned the game its way from the third inining on.
In that at bat, Michael Duursma led off with a walk and scored the tying run on a double by Gilmer Lampe.
The latter advanced on a wild pitch and scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Remco Draijer.
Amsterdam added two runs in the fourth.
With one out, Max Clarijs singled and with two outs, Linoy Croes walked.
They both went on to score on a single by Michael Duursma.

In the fifth inning, off of new pitcher Gijs Timmer, the Amsterdam-squad scored three more runs.
Remco Draijer led off with a walk and stole second base.
He scored on an one-out single by Patrick Bok.
With two outs, the lead was lifted to 8-2 when Jesse Aussems hit a 2-run homerun, his first fourbagger since hitting one on May 2, 2013 against The Hawks in Dordrecht.
Pirates then scored another run in the sixth.
Michael Duursma led off with a walk, was awarded second base on a balk, then scored when an error followed the third double in the game by Gilmer Lampe.
Hereafter, three relievers held Amsterdam scoreless in the final three innings.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Robin Schel took over for Kevin Heijstek.
With one out and Tommy van der Sanden (fielder's choice) on first base, the lefthander gave up single to Melvin Perdue (who was 4-for-5) and Koen Halderman, which loaded the bases.
A walk for Ryan Miner and a force play-grounder by Mitchell Koot then brought in two runs to make it a 9-4 score.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, DSS scored three more runs and even had the tying run at bat.
With one out, Schel walked Menno Lenting, then gave up a single to Joffrey Heus.
Hereafter, Tommy van der Sanden also singled, which was followed by an error, that led to a run.
Schel then gave up another single to Melvin Perdue, that brought in two runs and narrowed the deficit to only 9-7.
Tom de Blok was brought in as new pitcher.
He got a grounder and closed with a strikeout to end the game and earn a save.
