HCAW vs. UVV
UVV initially took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning off of starter Kaj Timmermans.
Julian Rip led off with a double, moved on a grounder by Jamie Verheyleweghen and scored on a following grounder by Tim Veraghtert.
UVV doubled its lead in the second inning.
Lead-off hitter Sergino Martis reached on an error and advanced on a grounder by Berend Ruben.
He then scored UVV's second run on a 2-out single by Sven Jongejans.
The bases then got loaded when Timmermans hit both Dennis Ribbens and Julian Rip with a pitch, but he then fielded a comeback-grounder by Jamie Verheyleweghen to end the inning.
UVV left the bases loaded and got only two more runners in scoring position in the remainder of the game.
In the third inning, the HCAW-defense turned a double play, then UVV stranded a runner on first base in the fourth.
In the fifth at bat, Julian Rip led off with a walk and moved on a sacrifice bunt, but then was eliminated in a rundown that followed on a pick-off.
In the sixth, Sergino Martis singled with one out, but then his pinch-runner Jordan Illis then also was eliminated after a pick-off.
Timmermans was relieved by Giovanni Tensen in the seventh.
With two outs out in the eighth, he gave up a single to Omar Williams, then pinch-runner Rick Kuipers stole second base to become UVV's final runner in scoring position.
HCAW got three baserunners in the first inning off of starter Timo van Ancum.
Boyd Tuhumury led off with a single, but was then picked off.
Hereafter, Roelie Henrique doubled, but he was caught stealing at third base.
Trailing 2-0, HCAW got a run back in the second inning.
With one out, Julian Goins walked and moved on a grounder by Kevin Nieveld.
He then scored when Raoell Kortstam followed with a single.
HCAW left two runners in the third inning, then wasn't threatening in the next two at bats.
In the sixth, with one out, Kevin Weijgertse singled and then Kevin Nieveld walked with two outs.
Hereafter, Kevin van Veen took over the pitching for UVV and closed the inning with a strikeout.
After being retired in order in the seventh, HCAW struck in the eighth at bat with two outs.
Rossini Frolijk led off with a walk and was replaced by rookie Pascal Zegwaard, who made his big league-debut and stole second base moments later.
With two outs, Julian Goins walked, then both runners scored when Kevin Nieveld doubled.
The latter then scored the fourth run when Marciano Philippi followed with a single.
He also stole second base, but then was left behind.
Now leading 4-2, Giovanni Tensen faced three pinch-hitters in the top of the ninth inning.
First, pinch-hitter Tony Enos flied out, then Sven Jongejans walked.
He was forced out on a grounder by pinch-hiter Steven van Reem, who was replaced at first base by pinch-runner Tijmen Takke.
But he was left behind when next pinch-hitter Mike Bazuin flied out.
And with that, HCAW registered a come-from-behind 4-2 victory.
