Amsterdam Pirates registers second comfortable win against Kinheim

AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - L&D Amsterdam Pirates also won its second game of a 3-game series against Kinheim on Saturday (May 21). This time, Amsterdam won 9-4 to extend its winning streak to 16 games.

Amsterdam rallied for four runs in the first inning and from there led the entire game.

Both Amsterdam and Kinheim hit only seven basehits, but two Kinheim-pitchers added ten walks, while three Amsterdam-hurlers issued no walks. Kinheim also committed three errors. Dudley Leonora went 3-for-4 for Kinheim.

L&D Amsterdam Pirates vs. Kinheim
Kinheim opened the score with one run in the first inning off of starter Kevin Heijstek. Jasper Keijzer led off with a double, who then advanced on a flyout. With two outs, he scored on a single by Dudley Leonora, but hereafter, Heijstek closed with a strikeout.

Amsterdam Pirates answered with four runs in its first at bat off off starter Glenn Wassink. With one out, the righthander walked Michael Duursma, Gilmer Lampe and Remco Draijer, then gave up a runscoring single to Danny Rombley that tied the score. An error on a force play-grounder by Linoy Croes gave Pirates a 2-1 lead and kept the bases loaded. With two outs, Rashid Gerard added a 2-run single to make it a 4-1 score.

After being retired in order in the second and third inning, Kinheim narrowed the deficit to 4-3 in the fourth at bat. With one out, Dudley Leonora singled and scored on a double by Victor Draijer, who then scored on a sacrifice fly by Sander Paap.

Again, Amsterdam took distance immediately by reacting with two runs with two outs in the bottom of the fourth. Kenny Berkenbosch led off with a single, Jesse Aussems walked with one out, then the bases got loaded when Michael Duursma walked with two outs. Hereafter, two runs were scored when Glenn Wassink also walked Gilmer Lampe and Remco Draijer, which made it a 6-3 score.

Amsterdam added a run in the fifth off of new pitcher Scott Ronnenbergh. Pinch-hitter Koen Nooij led off with a single and went on to score on a wild pitch, but Pirates also would leave three runners.

Amsterdam took more distance by scoring two runs in the eighth inning. Michael Duursma led off with a walk, then stole second base with one out. Moments later, he scored on a single by Remco Draijer, who moved to third base when an outfield-error followed. Hereafter, Danny Rombley also walked. With two outs, Rombley was caught stealing in a rundown, but during this play, Draijer scored the next run to make it 9-3.

Kinheim scored its final run in the top of the ninth inning off of closer Daan Hendrix. Kevin Moesquit led off with a single, moved on a double by Dudley Leonora and scored on a grounder by Sander Paap. But that was to be it for Kinheim today.
