The biggest news tonight was the return on the mound of veteran Rob Cordemans.
The 41-year old righthander sustained an injury in the off-season, but it was hoped he could return during the season.
However, that took longer than expected.
In the meantime, Cordemans worked hard on his recovery and has been throwing in the bullpen for several weeks now.
Tonight, he made his first appearance of the season and was on a pitch-count.
Cordemans threw the first two innings (32 pitches) and had a fine first outing.
He struckout the first batter he faced, then gave up a double to Julio Hernandez and walked next batter Kevin Moesquit, but both stranded.
Cordemans then retired the side in the second inning, striking out two more batters.
Cordemans last pitched almost a year ago when he was the starting pitcher against Curaçao Neptunus during the Play-Offs on August 28.
Amsterdam Pirates scored its first run in the first inning off of Glenn Wassink, who also is recovering from an injury.
Later in the game, lefthander Kyle Ward also made another appearance again for Pirates.
Ward, who also is recovering from an injury, made his comeback after two months on the mound last weekend against Vaessen Pioniers.
Amsterdam added three runs in the fourth inning, then scored three more in the fifth when Kenny Berkenbosch hit a 3-run homerun.
Kinheim got two runs back in the sixth, then added a run in the seventh, but the Haarlem-team then also stranded three runners.
After scoring a run in the eighth, Amsterdam Pirates rallied for six runs in the top of the ninth on four hits.
Amsterdam Pirates collected 14 basehits with six batters hitting two of them.
Eight of the nine batters in the starting line-up hit at least one basehit.
Gilmer Lampe scored three runs for Amsterdam.
