Vaessen Pioniers vs. De Glaskoning Twins
The first four innings remained scoreless, as starters Chris Pfau (Pioniers) and Cedric Desmedt (Twins) didn't gave way much.
The American-Belgian match-up resulted in only two basehits in these four at bats.
In the top of the first inning, Jeffrey Arends walked with two outs for Twins, then Berry van Donselaar singled off of Pfau.
The lefthander then closed with a strikeout and added six more strikeouts in the next three innings, while walking two batters.
The basehit by Pioniers also was registered in the first inning when Mervin Gario singled with two outs, but a flyout followed.
In the next three innings, Desmedt faced only nine batters.
He hit Brennan Nijhof with a pitch in the third, but he was caught stealing.
Twins then opened the score in the top of the fifth inning.
Lead-off hitter Anthony Vrolijk was hit by a pitch, moved to third base on a following double by Anthony Vrolijk, then scored on a passed bal with one out.
In this inning, Chris Pfau added two more strikeouts to bring his total to ten in the five innings he pitched this afternoon.

Pioniers left a runner in the bottom of the fifth inning, but then scored twice in its sixth at bat.
With one out, Stephen Henson and Zerzinho Croes walked, then a single by Mervin Gario led to the tying run.
Kevin Dirksen followed with a double that gave Pioniers a 2-1 lead.
With runners on second and third base, a force play was created by walking Quintin De Cuba intentionally.
That also led to a pitching change, as Brendan Schoemaker took over for Desmedt.
A strikeout and flyout ended the inning.
The lead was shortlived, as Twins came alongside in the top of the seventh inning off of Jonatan Isenia, who had taken over for Pfau in the previous at bat.
The righthander walked Stijn Janssens and Anthony Vrolijk.
Both runners advanced on a pick-off throwing error by the catcher.
With two outs, Janssens scored the tying run on a bunt-single by Jarreau Martina.
Maickel Rietel took over the Pioniers-pitching in the eighth.
He retired the side in the eighth and would become the winning pitcher, thanks to a big hit in the bottom of the eighth.
In that at bat, Zerzinho Croes reached on an error, then a single by Mervin Gario resulted in runners on second and third base.
With one out, Quintin De Cuba was walked intentionally (again), but this time, that decision wasn't successful, as next batter Brian Raap drilled the ball into rightfield for a grand slam homerun!
In the top of the ninth, with a runner on first base and two outs, Rietel ended the game with a strikeout.
Pioniers registered only six basehits in the game, but three of them were hit by Mervin Gario, who had an important contribution to the win.
