Curaçao Neptunus vs. Kinheim
Righthander Orlando Yntema dominated for Neptunus, as he allowed only an infield-hit in the first eight innings he pitched.
Lefthander Scott Ronnenbergh started for Kinheim and that was a result of several changes in the starting rotation of the team since last Thursday.
Initially, Venezuelan righthander Luis Figuera Roman was announced as starter for Thursday, but as his paperwork is not yet approved, Glenn Wassink started instead.
Wassink was to be the starter for today's game.
Tom Stuifbergen, who started the first game a week ago, wasn't available, as he is recovering from a knee-injury.
It was hoped that he could start Sunday, but that also changed and on Friday, David Bergman was named instead to start the third game.
Last Thursday-evening, Bergman had pitched the final two innings in relief.
And so, Wassink's spot today was taken by Ronnenbergh, who normally is a reliever.
He started only one game last season for Kinheim in 18 appearances.
In 2014, he only pitched in relief in the regular season for Vaessen Pioniers and started one game in the Play-Offs.
Orlando Yntema threw eight strong innings and allowed only one runner to get into scoring position in that span.
After walking Kevin Moesquit with two outs int the first inning, Yntema retired the next seven batters in a row.
In the fourth, he gave up a lead-off infield-hit to Niels van Weert.
He was forced out on a grounder by Moesquit, who then got into scoring position when Dudley Leonora was hit by a pitch with two outs.
Hereafter, Yntema retired eleven consecutive batters.
Defensively, there was some miscommunication between second baseman Benjamin Dille and rightfielder Christian Diaz.
A fly into short rightfield by Dudley Leonora in the second inning, was caught by Dille, but ended in a collision.
Both players were able to continue.
After Van Weert had reached in the fourth inning, there was another mishap and the ball dropped onto the ground between the two, but ended in a force out on second base.
There also was a nice diving catch by centerfielder Shaldimar Daantji on a line drive by Dexter de Weert in the fifth inning.
Scott Ronnenbergh gave up the first Neptunian run in the second inning.
With one out, Christian Diaz singled, then Dashenko Ricardo walked.
A following single by Rien Vernooij then gave Neptunus an early lead.
The bases got loaded when Daniel Fernandes also singled.
But hereafter, the inning ended when leftfielder Jasper Keijzer made a nice diving catch on a line drive by Shaldimar Daantji, which led to a double play.

Neptunus added its second run in the third inning, but this time, there was a miscommunication in the Kinheim-defense.
First, Keijzer made another diving catch on a line drive by Dwayne Kemp.
With one out, Benjamin Dille singled and moved on a grounder by Raily Legito.
Gianison Boekhoudt then singled through the middle.
Centerfielder Jochem Koedijk made a strong throw towards the plate, where catcher Dexter de Weert was awaiting the ball, while Dille was approaching.
However, Scott Ronnenbergh suddenly ended up in front of the plate and interrupted the throw, which allowed Dille to score.
When Ronnenbergh wouldn't have done that, De Weert would have received the ball, resulting in a play at the plate and a possible out.
But now, Neptunus was leading 2-0.
In the fourth, Ronnenbergh retired the side (two strikeouts), then was supported with a double play in the fifth at bat.
The lefthander then gave up his third run in the sixth.
With one out, Christian Diaz singled, stole second base and advanced on a wild pitch.
He then scored on a following single by Dashenko Ricardo.
In the seventh, the Kinheim-defense committed three errors, enabling Neptunus to take more distance and decide the game.
With one out, Shaldimar Daantji tripled, which led to a pitching change.
Reggie Bomberg took over and saw Dwayne Kemp reach on an error, which enabled Daantji to score.
Another error followed on a grounder by Benjamin Dille.
With runners on second and third base, a throwing error towards third base led to another run, then a grounder by Raily Legito made it 6-0.
And so, Neptunus led 6-0, which appeared to be comfortable, but then Kinheim staged a rally in the top of the ninth inning in which the first six batters reached base successfully.
Yntema, who had given up only one basehit until then, now gave up a lead-off double to Niels van Weert, followed by a single by Kevin Moesquit.
Hereafter, Steven van Groningen took over the pitching, but ran into problems.
He was greeted with a 2-run double by Bryan Engelhardt, then gave up a single to Dudley Leonora, followed by a runscoring single by pinch-hitter Thomas Bos.
With runners on first and second base and still no outs, Bos was forced out on a grounder by Julio Hernandez, who made his debut.
Aruban outfielder Hernandez and Venezuelan pitcher Luis Figuera Roman were both added to the roster after the final game of the first 3-game series of the season.
Hernandez was cleared to play today, while Figuera's paperwork, as mentioned, has yet to be approved.
With runners on first and third base, the game ended when Dexter de Weert grounded into a double play.
