Neptunus wins comfortable in Bussum
Nederlands
BUSSUM (Neth.) -
Curaçao Neptunus registered a comfortable 10-1 victory on Thursday-evening (June 23) against HCAW, but led only 4-1 after six innings.
HCAW had won five games in a row before tonight.
The game was one of two that were played tonight, as two other games were cancelled due to heavy rain early in the day and unplayable fields.
These games will be made up up Friday-evening.
Neptunus collected 15 basehits tonight with all nine players in the line-up hitting at least one.
Amongst the hits was a 2-run homerun by Gianison Boekhoudt that gave the Rotterdam-squad a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
There was a very rare interruption in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The HCAW-site is known for having sometimes long sun-delays when the setting sun blocks the views of the batter, catcher and home plate umpire.
However, tonight, it was cloudy during the first innings.
But in the sixth inning, it started to rain at the same time when the clouds broke and a bright sun appeared.
That resulted in an unique rain/sun-delay, which lasted 15 minutes.
