Xander Bogaerts was the starting short stop for Boston and went 2-for-3.
He accounted for two runs, as he hit a solo-homerun and batted in another run.

In the fourth, he singled, but was left behind, as David Ortiz flied out and Hanley Ramirez popped out.

The Mets took an 1-0 lead in the fifth, but then the Red Sox scored twice in the sixth.
Jackie Bradley and Mookie Betts led off with singles, but then Dustin Pedroia flied out, but that moved Bradley to third base.
Bogaerts followed with a sacrifice fly that enabled Bradley to score the tying run.
Hereafter, David Ortiz singled to make it 2-1.
Boston again scored twice in the eighth.
With one out, Bogaerts homered and later in the inning, Deven Marrero added an RBI-single that made it 4-1.
Bogaerts was replaced in the top of the ninth inning.
At Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, the Baltimore Orioles nipped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-5.
Jonathan Schoop started at second base for the Orioles and like Xander Bogaerts batted 2-for-3 and also homered.
In the third inning, Schoop led off with a single, but later was eliminated in a double play.
Trailing 1-0, Baltimore scored three runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a 2-run homerun by Mark Trumbo that broke the 1-1 tie.
In the bottom of the fifth, off of Jonathon Niese, Schoop led off with a homerun that made 4-1.
Schoop flied out in the seventh inning, then was replaced in the top of the eighth.
The Orioles won on a walk-off single in the ninth inning by Joey Rickard.
At George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, the New York Yankees lost 6-2 vs. the Tampa Bay Rays.
Didi Gregorius started as short stop for New York and was 0-for-2.
Gregorius lined out in the second inning and struckout in the fifth.
He was then replaced in the top of the sixth.
At Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, the Seattle Mariners visited the Colorado Rockies and won 10-8.
Gianfranco Wawoe, who on Wednesday was an additional player, today again was with the Maniners-squad.
This time, he entered the game in the bottom of the eighth inning, replacing Chris Taylor as short stop.
But he didn't get an at bat.
On Wednesday, at Peoria Stadium in Peoria, Wawoe also was an additional player for the home game against the Oakland Athletics.
With the A's leading 13-11 in the sixth inning, Chris Iannetta walked for the Mariners and was replaced by Wawoe as pinch-runner.
But a flyout then ended the inning and Wawoe was replaced again.
Oakland won the game 13-12.
At Camelback Ranch-Glendale in Phoenix, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim visited the Chicago White Sox and won 6-5.
Andrelton Simmons started at short for the Angels and was 1-for-3.
In the top of the second, Simmons singled with two outs, but was then eliminated trying to stretch it into a double.
He then flied out in the fifth.
Trailing 2-0, the Angels scored four runs in the sixth, thanks to a 3-run homerun by Mike Trout and a solo-homerun by C.J. Cron.
Herafter, Simmons popped out and he was replaced by a pinch-hitter in the seventh.
At Surprise Stadium in Surprise, a split-squad of the Texas Rangers won 12-5 against the Cincinnati Reds.
In the top of the sixth inning, Juremi Profar entered the game as new third baseman for the Rangers.
Today, Profar was added to the game as an addtional Minor League-player.
In the bottom of the seventh, with James Jones (single) on first base and one out, Profar singled.
With two outs, both scored when Ronald Guzman homered.
At Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, the Los Angels Dodgers visited the Cleveland Indians.
With the Indians leading 5-1, Kenley Jansen pitched the bottom of the seventh inning for the Dodgers.
The righthander threw three strikeouts!
