Berry van Driel Athlete of the Year in The Hague

SCHEVENINGEN (Neth.) -
Berry van Driel, reliever of Dutch baseball-champion Curaçao Neptunus, has won the Award for Male Athlete of the Year in the municipality of The Hague.
The best athletes of 2015 in this city were announced on Monday (January 25) during the annual gala at the Grand Hotel Amrâth Kurhaus in Scheveningen.
At the Haags Sportgala (Sports Gala The Hague), Van Driel was nominated for winning the national baseball-title and the European Champions Cup last year with Neptunus.
In 2014, Van Driel was the MVP of the Holland Series when Neptunus also won the title.
Also nominated for the award were Fabian Florant (national champion triple jump) and Rutger van Schaardenburg (European champion sailing).

The Hague Female Athlete of the Year - Celeste Split (korf ball)
The Hague Sports Team of the Year - Reinder Nummerdor and Christiaan Varenhorst (beachvolleyball)
The Hague Sports Talent of the Year - Simeon Catherina (judo)
The Hague Coach of the Year - Vincent Krijgsman (judo)
Former figure skater Joan Haanappel received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Actor Bas Muijs was the emcee of the evening.
