Nederlands

De Hazenkamp vs. Vaessen Pioniers
Pioniers led only 2-0 after two innings, but then the score completely ran out of hands. The Hoofddorp-squad scored nine runs in the third inning, then rallied for 14 runs in the fourth to lift the lead to 25-1. Pioniers added six more runs in the sixth (and last) inning. De Hazenkamp scored its lone run in the third.

Pioniers collected 29 basehits in the game, including six by newcomer Shurman Marlin, who was 6-for-6, scored four runs and batted in six. Mervin Gario, Quintin De Cuba and Glenn Bakker all registered four basehits. Zerzinho Croes and Mervin Gario both scored five runs, while Glenn Bakker scored four. Like Marlin, Mervin Gario also batted in six runs, while De Cuba batted in five.

In the first inning, De Hazenkamp-starter Roy Eckstein initially was succesful. He gave up a lead-off single to Mark Smit, but he was then eliminated in a long rundown after a pick-off. Hereafter, Zerzinho Croes walked and went on to score on a 2-out single by Quintin De Cuba.

In the next at bat, Shurman Marlin led off with a single and scored on a 2-out single by Stephen Henson.

Pioniers then decided the game by scoring nine runs in the third at bat, with only two runs being earned. Thanks to two errors and a hit batter, Pioniers got the bases loaded, then Kevin Dirksen delivered a 2-run double. Shurman Marlin followed with a 2-run single. Later in the at bat, the rally continued thanks to a 2-run single by Stephen Henson, a 2-run double by Mervin Gario and an RBI-single by Quintin De Cuba, that made it 11-0.

Lars Huijer started for Pioniers. He gave up lead-off singles to respectively Steffen Vos and Wesley Kamoen in the first two innings, but they were left behind. De Hazenkamp then scored its lone run in the third inning. With one out, Steffen Vos singled, then scored on a 2-out double by Robbert Lafferty, who two weeks ago won the Homerun-derby at the site of De Hazenkamp during a Slowpitch Softball-clinic in which he participated with students of the Radboud University.

Shurman Marlin (two doubles), Glenn Bakker (single, double), Zerzinho Croes (two singles), Mervin Gario (double, triple) and Quintin De Cuba (single, double) all had two basehits in this inning. The first four also scored twice, as did Mark Smit. Gario batted in two runs with his triple and one with his double, while Marlin and De Cuba both batted in two runs with a double. All nine players in the Pioniers batting order reached base and all scored in this at bat. All also hit at least one basehit, except for Mark Smit, who reached twice on an error.

HCAW vs. Vaessen Pioniers
After winning huge in the tournament-opener, Vaessen Pioniers was left empty-handed in its next game, losing 3-2 to HCAW on a walk-off walk in the seventh inning.

Initially, Pioniers also faced an early 1-0 deficit in the first inning. After having stranded two runners in the top of the first inning, Pioniers saw HCAW take the lead moments later.

Starting pitcher Chris Pfau struckout lead-off hitter Boyd Tuhumury, but as the third strike ended in a wild pitch, it led to a runner on first base. A throwing error enabled Tuhumury to moved to second base. He then advanced to third base on a grounder by Roelie Henrique and went on to score the first run on a wild pitch with two outs.

Pioniers came alongside in the second at bat off of Giovanni Tensen. He gave up a lead-off double to Shurman Marlin, who already had registered six basehits in his previous six at bats in the first game. With one out, he scored the tying run on a double by Stephen Henson.

In his next two innings, Pfau allowed only one batter to reach base. The lefthander was then relieved by Maickel Rietel, who pitched for HCAW in the last few seasons. The righthander did fine against his former teammates, as he retired the side in the fourth and fifth inning, striking out three batters. In the sixth, he gave up lead-off singles to Kevin Nieveld and Roelie Henrique, but then followed with two more strikeouts. A foul-fly ended the at bat, meaning the two runners were left behind.

Sander Helmendach also had a good outing for HCAW, as he allowed only one batter to reach base after taking over in the fourth. With two outs, Mark Smit then singled and stole second base, but hereafter, then next seven batters were retired in order.

Pioniers took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh off of new pitcher Gijs van Els. He walked lead-off hitter Glenn Bakker, who then moved on a sacrifice bunt by Mark Smit. Hereafter, Zerzinho Croes reached on an infield-hit that was followed by an error, enabling Bakker to score.

Sedley Karel then took over the pitching for Pioniers. He got the bases loaded when Julian Goins led off with a single and Levine Gabriëls and pinch-hitter Dalvin Kortstam both walked. Goins was then forced out at home on a grounder by Jelle Blaauw, but Gabriëls then scored the tying run when Kevin Nieveld followed with a sacrifice fly. Kortstam advanced to third base on the flyout, but then appeared to be elimintated on the throw from the outfield, but an error followed and enabled him to stay at the base. A walk for Roelie Henrique loaded the bases and a following walk for Rossini Frolijk then produced the winning run for HCAW.
