Kinheim vs. De Glaskoning Twins
Kinheim got a chance to open the score early, but left several runners behind in scoring position off of Belgian starter Ben Van Nuffel.
In the first inning, the righthander walked both Jasper Keijzer and Julio Hernandez, who then moved on a sacrifice bunt by Kevin Moesquit, but then were left behind.
In the second at bat, Kinheim again got its first two batters on base when Niels van Weert walked and Sander Paap singled.
This time, the first was forced out on third base (ending the inning), while the second was one of two runners that were left behind.
In the third inning, Twins turned a double play, but then gave up two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Lead-off hitter Victor Draijer drove the ball into leftfield for a triple, then Niels van Weert walked.
A following single by Sander Paap then led to the first run.
Hereafter, a force out on a grounder by Dexter de Weert was followed by a throwing error, resulting in runners on second and third base.
Jochem Koedijk then singled in the next run.
Kinheim added two runs in the fifth at bat.
With one out, Kevin Moesquit walked, stole second base and was awarded third base on a balk.
He then scored on a sacrifice fly by Dudley Leonora, which was followed by a double by Victor Draijer.
Moments later, Niels van Weert singled to bring in Draijer and lift the lead to 4-0.
That led to a pitching change, as Van Nuffel was replaced by Floris Timmer, who made his first appearance of the season.
With his first delivery, he hit Sander Paap with a pitch, but then ended the inning with a strikeout.
Kinheim doubled its lead to 8-0 by scoring four runs in the sixth at bat off of Timmer.
With one out, the home team got the bases loaded when Jasper Keijzer walked, Julio Hernandez singled and Kevin Moesquit also walked.
A run was then scored when all runners were awarded the next base on another balk.
Hereafter, Dudley Leonora drilled the ball into right-centerfield and accounted for the most humorous moment of the evening.
After rounding second base, he stumbled, barely could balance himself, waved his arms, almost fell down a second time, but made it in time on third base with a stand-up, 2-run triple!
Shortly thereafter, Leonora scored the next run himself on a single by Niels van Weert to make it 8-0.
Twins was unable to do much off of Luis Figuera Roman.
The team got only one runner on third base.
Twins registered its first basehit with two outs in the fourth inning when Berry van Donselaar singled into leftfield.
He then became the lone runner to reach third base when next batter Anthony Vrolijk doubled.
But both stranded.
In the fifth, Bob van der Meer reached on an error, but was caught stealing.
Hereafter, Figuera retired nine batters in a row.
The Venezuelan righthander then encountered some problems in the top of the eighth, but there was no one warming up in the Kinheim bullpen.
With two outs, Figuera hit Shurty Tremus with a pitch, then walked Bart Hanegraaff.
But he recovered in time and closed with a strikeout.
Nick Veltkamp pitched the ninth inning for Kinheim, but had some problems, as he gave up three hits and a run.
With one out, the bases got loaded when Berry van Donselaar, Anthony Vrolijk and Mick Molenaar all singled.
The latter was then forced out on second base on a grounder by Bob van der Meer, which led to the run.
In an attempt to complete a double play, a throwing error followed, resulting in runners on second and third base.
That was to be it for Twins tonight, as Veltkamp closed the inning and the game with a strikeout.
