Curaçao Neptunus vs. L&D Amsterdam Pirates
In the top of the first inning, off of starter Diegomar Markwell, Amsterdam got two baserunners with two outs when Danny Rombley walked and Kenny Berkenbosch singled.
But they were left behind.
In the bottom of the first inning, off of starter Kevin Heijstek, Randolph Oduber led off for Neptunus with a single in his first big league at bat.
The former pro was added to the roster of the Rotterdam-squad a week ago.
He arrived last Tuesday and made his debut tonight, being the lead-off hitter and playing in leftfield, the position that was mostly played by Urving Kemp so for this season.
Oduber moved on a sacrifice bunt by Dwayne Kemp, who had been the lead-off hitter in most other games.
But two flyouts followed.
Amsterdam left another runner in scoring position in the second inning.
Rashid Gerard led off with a single, moved on a sacrifice bunt by Jesse Aussems, but was left behind.
Neptunus then opened the score in the bottom of the second inning.
With two outs, Rien Vernooij singled and stole second base, then scored when Benjamin Dille followed with another single.
Amsterdam again got in scoring position in the third at bat.
Michael Duursma led off with a walk, then Danny Rombley singled with one out.
The inning ended when Rombley was caught stealing to complete a double play after Kenny Berkenbosch had struckout.
In the bottom of the third inning, Neptunus made it a 2-0 score.
With one out, Raily Legito and Gianison Boekhoudt both singled.
Moments later, both advanced on a passed ball.
Hereafter, Legito scored Neptunus' second run on a grounder by Christian Diaz.
In the next two innings, Amsterdam again got a chance to do something back, but was unable to score.
In the fourth inning, Remco Draijer led off with a single and advanced to second base on a passed ball with two outs, but a strikeout then ended the at bat.
In the fifth, with one out, Michael Duursma singled and was forced out, then Markwell also closed this inning with a strikeout.
From the fourth inning on, Neptunus not only was held scoreless, but was also held hitless by the Amsterdam-pitching.
Heijstek retired the side in tthe fourth and fifth inning, then was replaced by Tom de Blok, who completed the game.
Markwell also only pitched the first five inning for Neptunus, then was relieved by Berry van Driel, who retired the side in the sixth and seven inning.
When De Blok took over in the sixth inning, he walked Christian Diaz, but the Amsterdam-defense then turned a double play.
The righthander retired the side in the seventh and eighth inning.
Bayron Cornelisse became the third pitcher for Neptunus in the eighth and also retired the side.
In the top of the ninth, Loek van Mil pitched for Neptunus, but almost was credited with a Blown Save.
Amsterdam not only scored a run, but had the winning run at second base with two outs.
Kenny Berkenbosch led off with a single, then advanced to second base on a wild pitch with one out.
The bases then got loaded when Rashid Gerard walked and Jesse Aussems singled.
Hereafter, Berkenbosch scored on a grounder by Linoy Croes, which brought the tying run to third base and the winning run to second base.
It was not opted to create a force play by walking the next batter intentionally.
But Amsterdam left two runners behind when a comeback-grounder by Nick Urbanus ended the game.
