Game 3 - México vs. Panamá
In the first game today, Nacionales de Panamá (Panamá) won 4-2 vs. Tobis de Acayucan (México). With that, the team won its second game, as it had opened on Tuesday with a win against the Nicaraguan host.

Shortly before the game, México changed its starting line-up, as well as its batting order. Two players who were in the initialy line-up were replaced. One of them being 40-year old Karim García, who initially was listed as third batter and was to be the designated hitter. García played ten years in the Major League for seven teams, including three with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Indians.

Mexican starter Juan Grijalba retired the side in the top of the first inning, but his Panamanian colleague Eliecer Navarro saw two batters reach in the bottom of the first. Lead-off hitter Daniel Nuñez reached on an error and moved on a sacrifice bunt by Adan Velasquez. With two outs, he tried to score on a single by Pedro Diaz, but was eliminated at the plate.

Both teams left a runner in scoring position in the second inning. For Panamá, Carlos Javier Quiroz led off with a double, but was left on second base. For México, Eliecer Ortiz led of with a walk, stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch, but also stranded.

In the following innings, pitchers Juan Grijalba and Eliecer Navarro dominated and were supported by fine defensive plays. No runner got into scoring position since the second inning.

In the third through seventh inning, Grijalba saw the lead-off hitter reach base three times, but each time, his defense turned a double play. He retired the side in the sixth and seventh.

Navarro (who by the way wears uniform number 07) did even better. He gave up a single with one out in the fourth inning and that was all he allowed, as he retired the side in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh inning. After walking the lead-off hitter in the second inning, the lefthander retired 18 of the next 19 batters, including the last eleven in a row. The 28-year old Navarro pitched in the American minor leagues for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2007-2013, then played in Puerto Rico in following years. The hit Navarro gave up in the fourth was registered by Pedro Diaz, who also accounted for the first (and only other) Mexican basehit in the first inning. With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Eliecer Ortiz drove the ball into deep leftfield for the Mexican squad off of Navarro, but leftfielder Rodrigo Orozco made a nice catch just in front of the fence.

In the top of the eighth inning, Panamá opened the score off of four pitchers. With one out, Jorge Bishop became the first batter to get into scoring position again. He doubled down the righfield-line off of Grijalba, who was then relieved hereafter by Manuel Corpas. He was greeted with a single by Javier Domínguez, which enabled Bishop to score the first run of the game. From that moment on, a rally started, resulting in four runs. A walk and a force out followed and another pitching change was made. New pitcher José Perez gave up a runscoring single to Rodrigo Orozco, which was followed by an error, that led to another run. With Orozco at second base, Perez was replaced again and Donett Zamlidio took over. Like the previous two pitchers, he also was greeted with a runscoring single, this time by Eduardo Thomas, which lifted the lead to 4-0.

México also scored its first run in the eighth inning. With Panamá now leading 4-0, starter Eliecer Navarro, who had pitched outstanding, was relieved. Yeliar Castro took over and faced pinch-hitter Karim García, who led off the at bat with a homerun! Two groundouts followed, but then Daniel Nuñez walked and Adan Velasquez singled. A pitching change followed and this time Franquelis Osoria took over. And he also was greeted with a basehit, as José Castañeda connected for an RBI-double that narrowed the deficit to 4-2. Osoria then closed with a strikeout.

Osoria then added two more strikeouts in the bottom of the ninth inning, ending the game by striking out Karim García.

Game 4 - Nicaragua vs. Colombia
In the evening, Gigantes de Rivas (Nicaragua) won 4-1 vs. Caimanes Olímpica de Barranquilla (Colombia). On Tuesday, Gigantes started the event with a loss vs. the Panamanian champion. For Caimanes, this was it second loss.

Yurendell de Caster was 1-for-3 with a walk tonight for Gigantes. The Netherlands Team-player was the designated hitter tonight, as Wuillians Vásquez was the first baseman.

As was the case in its opening game on Tuesday-evening, Gigantes faced an early deficit.

Róger Luque started for the Nicaraguan squad. The lefthander is one of the pick-up players of Gigantes during this event. In the regular season, he pitched for Orientales de Granada, which lost the Championship Final to Gigantes a week ago. Now that Luque plays for Gigantes during this tournament, he is a teammate again of Wuillians Vásquez. In 2010, the two Venezuelans also were teammates when the played in the Netherlands big league for HCAW.

In the top of the first inning, Luque gave up an one-out single to Fidel Peña, but he was caught stealing. Luque then walked the next two batters, but they stranded, as he closed with a strikeout.

In the second inning, Luque gave up a run. With one out, Manuel Boscan singled and Gerson Jiménez walked. Moments later, Boscan scored on a single by Ronald Ramírez. Hereafter, Efraín Contreras also singled. Jiménez was waved home, but was thrown out at the plate by rightfielder Ramón Flores. Colombia left two runners behind when a grounder ended the at bat.

For the Nicaraguan squad, Ofilio Castro singled with one out in the bottom of the first inning off of lefthanded starter Porfirio López, but a double play followed.

After stranding a runner in the second inning, Gigantes struck with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Renato Morales led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt, then scored the tying run when next batter Jimmy González reached on an error. Ofilio Castro followed with a triple that gave the home team a 2-1 lead, then scored himself on a following sacrifice fly by Wuillians Vásquez. Yurendell de Caster then singled, but was left at first base.

Gigantes added a run in the next at bat. Dwight Britton led off with a double, moved to third on a grounder, then scored on a following single by Renato Morales, which led to a pitching change.

After Gigantes had left runners on first and second base in the bottom of the fifth inning and with a 4-1 lead, Róger Luque was relieved in the top of the sixth. Fidencio Flores took over. After the first two batters popped out, he gave up a double to Gerson Jiménez, but closed with a strikeout.

The Colombian squad got a chance of doing something back in the top of the seventh inning, but the Caimanes left the bases loaded. The inning began with back-to-back doubles by Efraín Contreras and Fidel Peña. With two outs, the bases got loaded with a walk, but hereafter, a pop-fly in leftfield ended the at bat.

In the final two innings, two relievers allowed only one more Colombian baserunner to seal the win for Gigantes.
