Kinheim vs. De Glaskoning Twins
Today's game was decided by an error in the sixth inning, which led to the lone run and was scored by Twins.
Twins initially was held scoreless by Tom Stuifbergen, who threw four innings.
The righthander struckout three batters and gave up only two basehits.
Stuifbergen retired the side in the first inning, then gave up an one-out single in the second to Anthony Vrolijk, who later stranded on second base.
In the third inning, Twins got closer to a run.
Bart Janssen led off with a walk, moved on a sacrifice bunt by Nick Peels and advanced to third base on a wild pitch with two outs.
But he also was left behind.
Stuifbergen was supported with a double play in the fourth inning, while Twins left another runner on second base.
In the fifth inning, Glenn Wassink took over the pitching for Kinheim.
Wassink retired the side in the fifth, then gave up the lone run in the sixth.
Bart Hanegraaff led off with a single.
Hereafter, Jeffrey Arends also singled, but that was followed by an outfield-error, which enabled Hanegraaff to score.
Arends moved to second base on the error, but stranded there, as Wassink eliminated the next three batters.
Twins didn't get into scoring position anymore in the remainder of the game.
Veteran pitcher Keiji Uezono went the distance for Twins.
The Japanese righthander struckout five batters and gave up only six basehits.
He allowed Kinheim to get into scoring position only two times.
Uezono was supported with a double play in the first inning, then saw Kinheim get runners on second and third base in the second at bat.
Dudley Leonora and Victor Draijer led off with singles, then both moved on a sacrifice bunt by Niels van Weert.
Hereafter, Leonora was eliminated at the plate trying to score on a grounder to third base by Sander Paap.
Van Weert stranded on second base.
In the fourth inning, Kevin Moesquit led off with a single and advanced on a grounder.
With two outs, he moved to third base when Niels van Weert reached on an error, but both were left behind.
Moesquit was Kinheim's second and last runner to reach third base in this game.
It also marked the last time that Kinheim got into scoring position.
In the sixth inning, Kinheim got its first two batters on base, but both were unable to advance.
Julio Hernandez led off with a single, but then was caught stealing.
Hereafter, Kevin Moesquit also singled, but also was caught stealing.
Keiji Uezono retired the side in the ninth inning and closed with a strikeout to throw the first complete game for Twins this season.
It also was the team's first complete game in the highest division in 12 years.
Twins last played in the Dutch big league in 2004 and in that season, Kevin Roovers and Remco Gorisse both threw a complete game.
Roovers is currently the Head Coach of Twins.
His Assistant Coaches Marcel Aerts and Bas Nooijens then also played for Twins.
There is one player on the current roster, who also played for Twins in 2004 and that is veteran pitcher Elton Koeiman.
