HCAW vs. DSS
By scoring 18 runs and collecting 22 basehits, it was a productive day for HCAW.

The 18 runs scored today are the most scored in one game by the Bussum-squad since it scored 19 runs ten years ago on May 6, 2006. On that date, HCAW won 19-17 against Pioniers.

The 22 basehits are also the most in ten years. On April 29, 2006, HCAW registered 18 basehits in a 14-2 victory against Amsterdam Pirates, scoring eight runs in the ninth inning. HCAW's highest hit-total since then had been 17, which was accomplished once in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Timo van Lingen made his first start of the season for DSS. He filled in for announced starter Tim Halderman, who sustained an injury while playing in an exhibition game of the Netherlands National Junior Team last Wednesday.

Van Lingen gave up the first two runs to HCAW in the top of the first inning. Roelie Henrique led off with a triple, but Van Lingen followed with two strikeouts. He then hit next batter Vince Rooi with a pitch and hereafter, Kevin Nieveld delivered a 2-run double.

After DSS left two runners in its first at bat, HCAW rallied for five runs in the second inning on five basehits. Marciano Philippi led off with a single and Gianni Frolijk walked. The first run was scored on a single by Julian Goins, but hereafter, DSS turned a double play. A wild pitch resulted in the next run, then Rossini Frolijjk added an RBI-double. That led to a pitching change, as Mark van Deursen took over, but he gave up a runscoring double to Kevin Nieveld, then an RBI-single to Kevin Weijgertse to lift the lead to 7-0.

In the bottom of the second inning, HCAW-starter Jim Ploeger gave up the lone run DSS scored today. Seb Visser led off with a walk, advanced on a single by Ruben Prins, then scored on a force play-grounder by Mitchel Dautzenberg.

HCAW got the run back int the third when Julian Goins singled with one out and scored on a following double by Roelie Henrique.

The Bussum-squad added another run in the fourth on a double by Kevin Weijgertse, then rallied for seven runs in the sixth at bat on eight basehits. Kevin Nieveld led off with a single and scored when Kevin Weijgertse followed with his second double in the game. With one out, Weijgertse scored the next run on a single by Gianni Frolijk. Hereafter, the bases got loaded when Julian Goins singled and Roelie Henrique walked. The bases were cleared thanks to a 3-run triple by Raoell Kortstam, who then scored himself on a following single by Rossini Frolijk. Later in the at bat, Kevin Weijgertse added a runscoring single to lift the lead to 16-1.

HCAW scored two more runs in the seventh inning on an RBI-triple by Roelie Henrique, which was followed by a double by Raoell Kortstam.

After giving up the run in the second inning, HCAW-starter Jim Ploeger retired ten of the next eleven batters he faced. The lefthander retired the side in the fourth and fifth inning.

Tim Niekerk took over from Ploeger in the sixth and was supported with a double play.

Giovanni Tensen then pitched the seventh inning for HCAW. He got the bases loaded, but didn't gave up a run. With one out, Ruben Prins reached on an error and Mitchel Dautzenberg walked. With two outs, the two moved on a wild pitch, then the bases got loaded when Menno Lenting walked. But hereafter, a comeback-grounder by Koen Halderman ended the inning and the game.
