Kinheim vs. Vaessen Pioniers
Pioniers opened the score with one run in the top of the first inning, but also left the bases loaded.
With two out, debuting Venezuelan righthander Luis Figuera Roman got the bases loaded.
He walked Austin Weymouth, then gave up a single to Quintin De Cuba.
The bases got loaded when Kevin Dirksen reached on an error.
A following walk for Shurman Marlin then led to an automatic run, but Figuera closed with a strikeout to avoid more runs.
While Figuera encountered some problems in the first at bat, he recovered, added six solid innings and got offensive help from his new teammates to turn the game Kinheim's way.
Twice, he helped himself with a double play.
After having retired the side in the second inning, he gave up a lead-off single to Mervin Gario in the third.
Next batter Austin Weymouth then lined the ball back to Figuera, who stuck up his glove in a reaction, caught the ball and doubled up Gario at first base.
In the fourth inning, he walked Shurman Marlin with one out.
Hereafter, Figuera caught a bunt by Stephen Henson, which led to another double play.
In the fifth inning, he hit Mark Smit with a pitch with one out, but he was caught stealing.

Figuera then gave up the second run to Pioniers in the top of the sixth inning.
Mervin Gario led off with a single, then a following single by Austin Weymouth led to runners on first and third base.
Next batter Quintin De Cuba walked, but the fourth ball ended in a wild pitch which enabled Gario to score.
Later in the at bat, Weymouth was caught stealing at third base.
In the seventh, Pioniers stranded runners on second and third base.
In the meantime, Kinheim was more or less silenced by Pioniers-starter Chris Pfau.
In the first inning, Jasper Keijzer led off with a walk, moved on a wild pitch and reached third base on a single by Julio Hernandez.
Moments later, Hernandez was caught stealing, while Keijzer remained at third base.
With two outs, he also was unable to advance on an infield-hit by Bryan Engelhardt and so, two runners were left behind.
With a runner on first base in the second inning, Pfau struckout two batters, then retired the side in the third at bat.
In the fourth, the lefthander began with two more strikeouts, saw Kinheim get two baserunners, but closed with his seventh strikeout.
In the fifth inning, Pfau also helped himself with a a double play.
He walked lead-off hitter Jochem Koedijk, but then fielded a comeback-grounder by Jasper Keijzer, which ended in a double play.
But in the bottom of the sixth inning, Pfau ran into problems.
At that moment, Kinheim trailed 2-0.

In the sixth, Bryan Engelhardt led off with a walk, then stole second base.
The veteran then showed his experience and created a scoring opportunity by stealing third base, while batter Niels van Weert walked.
A throwing error towards third base followed and Engelhardt scored.
Hereafter, Kinheim got the bases loaded when Dudley Leonora singled and Oliver van der Wijst Severino walked.
That led to a pitching change and Maickel Rietel took over.
Sander Paap and Jochem Koedijk followed with sacrifice flies to first tie the score, then take the lead.
On the first sac-fly, Pioniers appealed and argued that Van Weert had left third base too early, but he was ruled safe.
Kinheim added a run in the seventh inning off of Rietel.
With one out, Julio Hernandez walked and stole second base.
With two outs, Bryan Engelhardt was walked intentionally (only ball four was intentional after Hernandez had stolen), but then Niels van Weert followed with a runscoring single.
After Kinheim had turned its third double play in the top of the eighth inning, they added its fifth run in the bottom half off of sidearmer/submariner Jonah Van Bemmelen.
With one out, he gave up a single to Sander Paap.
Moments later, Paap was awarded second base when a balk was called.
That led to an argument from Pioniers' Head Coach Dè Flanegin, who was ejected by Home Plate Umpire Martijn Bosschaart.
Paap went on to move to third base on a single by Jochem Koedijk, then scored on a force play-grounder by Jasper Keijzer.
Nick Veltkamp, who had taken over from Figuera in the eighth inning, retired the side in the ninth to earn a save.
