In today's game, HCAW had to do without short stop Delano Selassa and catcher Dylan Koster, who are currently attending the MLB Camp in Barcelona (Spain). The catchers of HCAW's second team were unavailable to fill in, as it had its team-weekend. Therefore, 45-year old Ronald Bouwman was added to the main squad as back-up catcher. He entered the game in the fifth taking over from Sven Jongejans and was 0-for-2. Several years ago, Bouwman played in the main squad, but currently, he plays at a lower level.

It was HCAW that opened the score early in the bottom of the first inning off of starter Mike Groen. Lead-off hitter Roelie Henrique reached second base when hit fly into the outfield ended in an error. Moments later, he scored when next batter Boyd Tuhumury followed with a single.

Ian Delemarre started for HCAW and threw three fine innings. He retired the side in the first at bat (two strikeouts), but gave up a lead-off single to Omar Williams in the second inning. Williams moved on a sacrifice bunt by Tino van Erk and a grounder by Jordan Illis, but then stranded.

With two outs in the third, Delemarre walked two batters, but closed with a strikeout.

Jim Ploeger took over the HCAW-pitching in the fourth, but ran into problems. With one out in the fourth, he hit Tino van Erk with a pitch. An error then followed on a force play-grounder by Jordan Illis. That brought Van Erk to third base, who reached in a close play and might have been tagged out by his former teammate Seb Visser. Moments later, Van Erk scored the tying run on a single by Levine Gabriëls, who last season played for HCAW.

DSS struck with three runs in the fifth inning. Ploeger walked Odion Gouverneur and Thomas Bos. He followed with a strikeout, but then gave up a double to Omar Williams that gave DSS a 3-1 lead. Williams then advanced on a single by Tino van Erk and scored when Jordan Illis also singled. A double play ended the at bat, but HCAW now trailed 4-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, HCAW got one run back. Kevin Dirksen led off with a double, moved on a grounder by Kevin Weijgertse and scored on a sacrifice fly by Seb Visser.

DSS added two more runs in the eighth off of reliever Tim Niekerk. He gave up a lead-off single to Jordan Illis, who was then awarded second base on a balk. Levine Gabriëls followed with an RBI-double to bring in Illis. Hereafter, Djewi Appelman reached on an error. Gabriëls and Appelman then executed a double steal to advance to second and third base. With one out, Gabriëls scored on a sacrifice fly by Odion Gouverneur, but that also led to an inning-ending double play, as Appelman was eliminated trying to advance to third base.

In its final four innings, HCAW stranded two runners in scoring position. In the sixth, with two outs, Boyd Tuhumury tripled, but was left behind. In the eighth, Roelie Henrique and Tuhumury both walked with two outs, but also stranded. In the bottom of the ninth, Kevin Dirksen walked with one out, but DSS then turned a game-ending double play.
