HCAW trailed 2-1 after three innings, but then took charge of the game from the fourth inning on. Leading 5-2, the Bussum-squad scored five more runs in the final three at bats.

Two former teammates faced each other in this game as starting pitchers, Sander Helmendach for DSS and Kaj Timmermans for HCAW. During the transfer-period that followed last season, Helmendach moved to DSS.

After leaving a runner behind on second base in the first inning and at first base in the second at bat, HCAW opened the score in the top of the third. With one out, Roelie Henrique tripled and scored on a following grounder by Boyd Tuhumury.

DSS reacted with two runs in its third at bat. The home-team had left a runner on second base in the first inning, then was retired in order in the scond. In the third at bat, Sven van de Sanden led off with a single, stole second base and scored on a triple by Devano Pieter, who then scored himself on a grounder by Odion Gouverneur to put DSS ahead, 2-1.

The lead didn't last long, as HCAW answered with two runs in the fourth. With one out, Kevin Dirksen singled and scored the tying run on a following double by Kevin Weijgertse. The double was followed by an error, which enabled Weijgertse to continue running and score also.

HCAW added two runs in the sixth off of new pitcher Robyn Clara. With one out, Kevin Dirksen doubled and scored with two outs when Seb Visser homered. Last year, Visser played for DSS.

In the seventh, another run was scored. 45-year old Ronald Bouwman, who was added to the squad on Saturday as a back-up catcher, again was with the team today. He led off the seventh with a single, moved on a sacrifice bunt and a single, then scored on a single by Vince Rooi.

Facing new pitcher Gijs Timmer in the eighth, HCAW scored another run. Kevin Weijgertse led off with a double and went on to score on an one-out sacrifice fly by Raoell Kortstam.

In the ninth, Kevin Nieveld, another former HCAW-player, took the mound for DSS. He gave up three more runs that lifted the lead to 10-2. Roelie Henrique led off with a walk and stole second base. With one out, Vince Rooi and Rossini Frolijk hit back-to-back doubles to bring in two runs. Moments later, Frolijk advanced on a single by Kevin Dirksen and scored on a force play-grounder by Kevin Weijgertse.

After scoring their two runs in the third inning, DSS reached base only four more times and didn't got into scoring position again in the remainder of the game off of four different pitchers. Of the four batters that reached base only one of them had a basehit.
