Loek van Mil to play in Australia again

ADELAIDE, South Australia (Australia) -
Dutch pitcher Loek van Mil again will play in Australia in the upcoming months.
The tall righthander (2,16 m) returns to Adelaide Bite for his third season in the professional Australian Baseball League.
The club announced the return of the closer on Friday, October 20.

In the Dutch big league, Van Mil was the closer for Curaçao Neptunus this year, but missed the first weeks of the season due to a back-injury.
He then returned to the mound for Neptunus, with whom he captured the Dutch championship-title, as well as the European Champions Cup.
Van Mil was named Most Valuable Player of the Holland Series in which he was 2-0 and earned a save.
In March of this year, Van Mil pitched for the Netherlands Kingdom Baseball Team that reached the Semi-Final of the World Baseball Classic.
The 33-year old Van Mil first played in Australia in the 2015-2016 season.
He then pitched in 13 games in relief for Adelaide and was 3-2 with five saves and a 2.93 ERA.
Van Mil struckout 19 hitters in 15 1/3 inning, giving up 15 hits and six runs.
Last season (2016-2017), Van Mil appeared in 18 games (also all in relief) and was 0-2 with eight saves and an 0.40 ERA.
He struckout 25 hitters in 22 1/3 inning, giving up 20 basehits and only two runs.
The new season in the Australian Baseball League opens on Thursday, November 16.
On that day, Brisbane Bandits, which last season captured its second consecutive championship-title, opens at home against Canberra Cavalry.
Van Mil opens his new season with Adelaide the next day with a 3-game series at Sydney Blue Sox.
