The righthander gave up a lead-off single to Joey Eeman, who stole second base, moved on a flyout and scored on a 2-out single by Jeffrey Arends.
Next batter Shurman Marlin was by a pitch, but two runners were left behind.
Pioniers struck with seven runs in the third inning to decide the game.
Joey Eeman again led off with a single, then Max Draijer also singled.
Eeman scored the next run on a single by Dudley Leonora and three more runs were added when Jeffrey Arends hit his fifth homerun of the season.
With one out, the bases got loaded when Quintin De Cuba singled and both Sander Paap and Angelo Wicklert walked.
That led to a pitching change, as rookie Raf Cocu took over from Mic van de Ven.
He was greeted with two runscoring singles from rookies Duco Nuijten (2-run) and Joey Eeman (1-run) to lift the lead to 8-0.
Pioniers failed to make it a 10-run difference in the following innings.
Instead, Twins narrowed the deficit to 8-2 in the top of the sixth inning.
Twins got some runners in scoring position in previous innings, but was unable to score.
In the second inning, Pioniers-starter Lars Huijer struckout the first two batters, but then gave up a double to Bram Grooten, who stranded on second base.
In the third, Bob van der Meer and Jamie Verheyleweghen led off with walks.
Huijer followed with two strikeouts, enabled the runners to advance on a wild pitch, but a grounder ended the at bat.
Huijer was supported with a double play in the fourth inning, but got the bases loaded in the fifth.
This time, Van der Meer and Verheyleweghen began with singles.
As he did two innings earlier, Huijer followed with two strikeouts, but then walked Chris Ge.
Huijer closed with his third strikeout in the inning and his eighth in the game.
In the sixth inning, Twins scored twice off of new pitcher Nick Keur, who made his first relief-appearance of the season after eleven starts.
Keur threw one inning, which will be his lone one in this series, as he travels to the Czech Republic on Friday with the Netherlands Under-23 Team for the European Championship, which opens on Monday.
Keur first walked Nick Peels, who will be his teammate in the Under-23 Team, then gave up a single to Bram Grooten.
After a strikeout, Keur gave up a runscoring single to Bob van der Meer.
After the latter was forced out, Grooten scored the next run on a single by Dennis De Quint to make it a 8-2 score.
Pioniers added a run in the bottom of the sixth off of Japanese pitcher Daisuke Yamashita, who had taken over during the previous inning.
He gave up a single to Jeffrey Arends, walked Shurman Marlin and got the bases loaded with one out when he hit Sander Paap with a pitch.
