OOSTERHOUT (Neth.) -
The big league baseball-team of De Glaskoning Twins was scheduled to open its exhibition season on Sunday (March 5) with a game against its second team.
Twins-2 is one of the sixteen teams that play this season in the second highest league, the 'Overgangsklasse'.
However, on Saturday-evening (March 4), it was confirmed that the game had been cancelled, as the playing site in Oosterhout was not playable.
In the past few days, it had rained in the area, making the field unplayable.
The team was not given permission to make use of it for Sunday's game and with that, it was cancelled.
Twins now will open its exhibition season next weekend.
The team then will travel to Belgium for a training camp.
On Sunday, the squad will play against Borgerhout Squirrels, one of the teams that play in the Belgian big league.
This afternoon (Saturday, March 4), HCAW was able to open the Dutch exhibition season with a home-game against RCH-Pinguïns.
HCAW won the 9-inning game with a 2-1 score.
