UVV scored three runs in the first two innings on only two basehits off of Japanese righthander Daisuke Yamashita, who walked six batters.
In the first inning, he walked lead-off hitter Rick Kuipers on four straight pitches, then hit next batter Julian Rip with his fifth delivery.
Randy Daal followed with a basehit.
Kuipers was waved home, but was eliminated at the plate.
Rip ended up on third base, then scored the first run on a sacrifice fly by Sergino Martis.
In the second, Bryce Cherry led off with a walk, but was forced out on a grounder by Tijmen Takke.
The bases then got loaded when Julian Goins singled and Brandon Rijnbergen was hit by a pitch.
Next batter Rick Kuipers walked (again on four straight pitches, as was Cherry), which brought in the next run.
A wild pitch followed and that enabled Goins to score the next run and make it a 3-0 score.
Twins was retired in order in its first at bat by Gilian van Lith, but got one run back in the second inning.
Melvin Perdue reached on an error and Gino Jonis walked.
The two moved on a grounder, then Perdue was eliminated at the plate on a grounder by Christopher Ge.
Jonis advanced to third base and later scored on a wild pitch, but Twins stranded two runners.
UVV added a run in the top of the third, but also left three runners behind.
With two outs, UVV got the bases loaded when Yamashita walked Bryce Cherry, Tijmen Takke (10-pitch at bat) and Julian Goins.
Hereafter, Jan Evertse took over the pitching, but he then walked Brandon Rijnbergen, resulting in a run.
Evertse then fielded a comeback-grounder to end the inning.
Twins cut the deficit in half in the fourth inning.
Melvin Perdue led off with a double and scored on an one-out single by Menno Lenting.
While Perdue scored, Lenting tried to advance to third base, but was eliminated there.

In both the fifth and the sixth inning, UVV again left three runners behind, but the team also scored in both at bats to take some more distance and add two insurance runs.

UVV stranded three runners for the fourth time in the eighth.
Reliever Matthew Latta then walked Bryce Cherry and Tijmen Takke.
His successor Brendan Schoemaker got the bases loaded when a force play-grounder by Julian Goins ended in an error.
This time, no runs were scored, as a line out and force out followed.
UVV left 17 runners behind in today's game, which is the hightest in one game this season by any team.
Kevin van Veen took over the UVV-pitching in the bottom of the fifth and held Twins scoreless in the remainder of the game.
He allowed only three more basehits in the five innings he pitched.

After a runner had stranded on second base in the seventh, De Quint doubled again to lead off the eighth and Melvin Perdue then walked.
