Tonight's game was a match-up between two lefthanded pitchers.
It was Diegomar Markwell, who dominated for Neptunus and gave up only one basehit.
HCAW-starter Jim Ploeger, who was 3-0 before tonight, was relieved in the fifth inning and was credited with his first loss of the season.
Neptunus saw several batters reach base in the first two innings, but scored only once and left three runners behind off Jim Ploeger.
During the game, the team wasn't always successful advancing runners, as it left 14 runners behind.
Leading 1-0, the team started its scoring from the fifth inning on.
In the first at bat, Christian Diaz and Dwayne Kemp singled with two outs, but were left behind.
In the second inning, Neptunus again reached base with two outs, but this time scored its first run.
With two outs, Urving Kemp reached on an error, stole second base and scored on a a single by Shaldimar Daantji, who himself stranded on second base.
In the third inning, Neptunus again got two baserunners, but they were eliminated at the bases.
Benjamin Dille led off with a single and was forced out on a grounder by Christian Diaz.
Moments later, Diaz was picked off at first base by Ploeger.
Neptunus got the bases loaded in the fourth inning when Jim Ploeger ran into some problems, but avoided giving up runs.
With one out, he walked Rien Vernooij, who moved on a wild pitch.
The bases then got loaded when Ploeger also walked Daniel Fernandes and hit Urving Kemp with a pitch.
Hereafter, Ploeger recovered, struckout Shaldimar Daantji and got a force play-grounder from Stijn van der Meer that ended the inning.
And so, Neptunus failed to add runs and left three runners behind.
Neptunus then did take some distance in the top of the fifth inning when Ploeger gave up four basehits.
With two outs, the Rotterdam-squad again got the bases loaded and this time, the team did some scoring.
Benjamin Dille led off with an infield-hit and Dwayne Kemp singled with one out.
With two outs, Rien Vernooij walked to load the bases.
Daniel Fernandes and Urving Kemp followed with runscoring singles, which gave Neptunus two runs and led to a pitching change.
Giovanni Tensen took over, but he walked Shaldimar Daantji, resulting in another run.
Neptunus again left three runners behind when a line drive by Stijn van der Meer was caught.
In the sixth inning, Neptunus added two runs to increase the lead to 6-0.
Benjamin Dille led off with a walk and Christian Diaz singled, then respectively scored on a grounder by Gianison Boekhoudt and a double by Rien Vernooij.
Neptunus again scored twice in the seventh.
With one out and Shaldimar Daantji (fielder's choice) and Stijn van der Meer (walk) on respectively second and first base, then bases got loaded when Benjamin Dille singled again.
The latter was forced out on a grounder by Christian Diaz, but that also led to a run, as did a following error.
In the top of the eighth inning, Neptunus scored its ninth run.
Gianison Boekhoudt led off with a double and moved on a wild pitch, then next batter Ruar Verkerk walked.
Hereafter, Moreno Vork became the new pitcher for HCAW.
With one out, he saw Boekhoudt score on a sacrifice fly by Urving Kemp.
Moments later, Neptunus tried to reach the 10-run difference when Verkerk tried to score on a double by Shaldimar Daantji.
The inning ended when Verkerk was eliminated at the plate.
Diegomar Markwell retired the first seven batters he faced.
With one out in the third inning, the lefthander gave up a single to Sven Jongejans, which would be the lone basehit tonight for HCAW.
HCAW got its first runner in scoring position in the seventh inning, but the team never reached third base.
With one out, Rossini Frolijk walked and moved on a wild pitch, but was left behind.
The home team also got runners in scoring position in the final two at bats, but was uable to score.
In the eighth, pinch-hitter Pascal Zegwaard reached second base on a throwing error, but was left there.
And in the ninth, Vince Rooi (with one out) and Kevin Weijgertse (with two outs) both walked, but the inning and the game ended when a force play-grounder followed.
