 Documentary about volunteers Thursday on television

On Thursday, December 7, the documentary 'Leve de Vrijwilliger!' ('Long live the Volunteer') of Michiel van Erp will be broadcast on television by BNNVARA.
The 55-minute documentary begins at 9:30 PM and can be seen at Channel 1 (NPO 1).
Thursday is National Volunteers Day in the Netherlands.
With the USA, Canada and the Scandinavian countries, the Netherlands is the leader in the total of active volunteers.
The documentary of Van Erp honors all these volunteers, who do a lot of work without being paid for it.

The film is made by wellknown Dutch documentary-maker Michiel van Erp.
On July 22, Van Erp and his crew made shots for his documentary in Amsterdam during the game of L&D Amsterdam Pirates against HCAW.
This was the final game in the long career of umpire Fred van Groningen Schinkel, who was behind the plate.
Before the game, Van Erp interviewed Van Groningen Schinkel and his son Stenar, who was the umpire at first base in this game.
In 2006, Van Erp made the feature film documentary Pretpark Nederland and in 2014, he was the director of the successful television-series 'Ramses', which won the Golden Calf, the Silver Nipkowschijf and the Prix Europa, amongst other awards.
For this series, Van Erp won the DDG Award, the annual award for Best Directing from the Dutch Directors Guild.
Through the years, Van Erp made many interesting documentaries, including portraits of His Royal Highness Prince Claus, former Queen Beatrix, writer Connie Palmen and actress Sylvia Kristel.
But he also made many documentaries focusing on human interest items.
