Before the game started, the national anthem was sung by country music star Neal McCoy.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Boston reached base quickly in the top of the first inning off of starter Dallas Keuchel, but failed to score.
After lead-off hitter Xander Bogaerts grounded out, Dustin Pedroia walked, but was forced out on a grounder by Andrew Benintendi.
Hereafter, Mookie Betts doubled to put runners on second and third base, but they were left behind.
Houston then opened the score in its first at bat off of Drew Pomeranz.
With two outs, he gave up a single to José Altuve, then Carlos Correa followed with a homerun.
Boston got one run back in the top of the second inning.
Chris Young led off with a double and stole third base, then Christian Vasquez walked.
Keuchel followed with a strikeout, but then gave up a runscoring single to Jackie Bradley Jr..
Hereafter, Keuchel also struckout Xander Bogaerts and Dustin Pedroia to close the inning.
Young had been added to the roster earlier in the day, replacing injured infielder Eduardo Núñez, who sustained a knee-injury during his first at bat in Wednesday's game.
As the Series has started, MLB had to approve the roster substitution.
This means that Núñez will be ineligible to play in the ALCS, but will be eligible to be placed on the roster for the World Series when Boston reaches the Final.

After Boston was retired in order in the top of the third inning, Houston doubled its lead in its third at bat off of Pomeranz.
First, George Springer led off with a homerun.
Hereafter, Alex Bregman doubled and scored the next run on a single by José Altuve.
That led to the departure of Pomeranz, who was replaced by Carson Smith.
Moments later, Altuve advanced on a passed ball, then the bases got loaded when Smith walked Carlos Correa and Evan Gattis.
Next hitter Josh Reddick then lined out to third baseman Deven Marrero, which was followed by a new pitching change.
Relief-ace David Price was brought in to take over from Smith.
Price got two pop-ups that ended the at bat, meaning three runners were left behind.
With two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Dallas Keuchel walked Hanley Ramirez.
Hereafter, the lefthander was relieved by Chris Devenski, who got an inning-ending pop-up.
Keuchel had struckout seven batters and gave up only three hits in the 5 2/3 inning he threw.
Houston then struck with a 4-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the lead to 8-1.
Eduardo Rodriguez took over the Boston-pitching, but was greeted with a lead-off infield-hit by Marwin Gonzales, then hit next hitter Brian McCann with a pitch.
Another pitching change followed, as Addison Reed took over.
He got a force play-grounder from George Springer, which eliminated McCann.
Gonzalez, who had advanced to third base, then scored when rightfielder Mookie Betts committed an error.
Betts caught a high pop-fly from Alex Bregman near the rightfield foul-line for the second out, then wanted to throw the ball to home plate.
After the ball was caught, Gonzalez returned to the base, then scored when Betts lost the ball when he made his move to throw.
With two outs, a force play was set up by walking José Altuve intentionally.
Hereafter, Carlos Correa delivered a 2-run double and Evan Gattis added a runscoring single to make it an 8-1 score.
Boston was able to add only one more run in the top of the ninth inning off of closer Ken Giles.
With one out, Christian Vasquez singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a 2-out single by Jackie Bradley Jr..
But hereafter, Giles closed the game by striking out Xander Bogaerts, who is now 0-for-9 in the Series.
