In its third game against HCAW, Neptunus again was silenced.
On Saturday, Neptunus won, but scored only two runs.
Today, the Rotterdam-squad recorded more hits than HCAW (10-7), but scored only once and lost 3-1.
This weekend, Neptunus again had to do without Greg Muller.
The American first baseman also didn't play in the 3-game series a week ago against De Glaskoning Twins.
He currently is back home in the USA to attend the wedding of a good friend and do some family-visiting.
He is expected back next week.
In the first three games of the season against L&D Amsterdam Pirates, Muller batted .400 (4-for-10) and had two runs batted in.
The team also still has to do without outfielder Steven Wharwood and closer Loek van Mil, who are both recovering from injuries.
And of course, the team has to deal with the unexpected hospitalization of starting pitcher Orlando Yntema.
HCAW-starter Ian Delemarre had a fine outing.
He saw Neptunus reach base frequently, but gave up only one run.
In the top of the first inning, Delemarre gave up a lead-off single to Stijn van der Meer, but he was eliminated in a double play.
In the second inning, Neptunus might have had a chance to open the score.
With two outs, Rien Vernooij reached on a bunt-single.
Hereafter, Ruar Verkerk's single was followed by an outfield-error.
That brought Vernooij to third base, but when Verkerk tried to advanced to second base on the error, he was eliminated there.
After Neptunus was retired in order in the third, it opened the score in the fourth inning.
With one out, Christian Diaz and Dwayne Kemp singled.
Gianison Boekhoudt followed with another single to put Neptunus ahead, 1-0.
That brought Kemp to second base, but there, he was picked off moments later by Delemarre.
Neptunus-starter Kevin Kelly was supported with a double play in the first inning, then retired the side in the next two at bats.
In the fourth, trailing 1-0, HCAW got two baserunners.
With one out, Dylan Koster and Vince Rooi singled, but two foul-outs followed.
HCAW came alongside in the fifth.
Seb Visser led off with a walk, advanced on a sacrifice bunt and a grounder, then scored on a single by Boyd Tuhumury.
In the top of the sixth, Stijn van der Meer led off with a single for Neptunus, but he would strand on third base.
HCAW then struck with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Dylan Koster led off with a single and scored the go-ahead run on a double by Vince Rooi.
With two outs, Rooi moved to third base on an infield-hit by Seb Visser, then scored on a wild pitch to make it a 3-1 score.
Neptunus got into scoring position again in the top of the eighth.
With one out, Stijn van der Meer connected for his third basehit in the game and moved when Benjamin Dille also singled.
That led to a pitching change, as Ian Delemarre was relieved by Oscar Meuris.
He got a force play-grounder and a flyout to end the inning.
Closer Sedley Karel pitched the ninth inning for HCAW and gave up a lead-off single to Gianison Boekhoudt.
With one out, the HCAW turned a game-ending double play which gave Karel his league-leading third save.
