Both DSS and Pioniers confirmed the transfer of the reliever on Sunday (May 7). As of now, the transfer will be finalized in the coming days, making Cornelisse eligible to play in the coming series of DSS against Pickles UVV, which opens next Thursday.

Last season, Cornelisse, who also pitches for the Netherlands National Team, played for Curaçao Neptunus. There, he pitched in 23 games in relief and was 3-3 with no saves, striking out 25 batters in 26 innings and finishing with an 1.38 ERA.

After the 2016 season, Cornelisse returned to Hoofddorp Pioniers, for whom he also played since 2012, before moving to Neptunus after the 2015 season.

During this years exhibition season, Cornelisse made some pitching appearances for Pioniers, but then a separation with the team followed in April before the start of the regular season.

The transfer-period that follows after completion of a season ends on November 1. However, according to the rules, it is possible for players to change teams hereafter when both agree to allow the transfer. The Dutch Association then has to approve the transfer.
