Remco Draijer led off with a single and Zerzinho Croes followed with a bunt-single.
Both scored on a double from next batter Nick Urbanus, who himself was eliminated at third base trying to stretch his hit into a triple.
Steijl retired Amsterdam in order in the second inning, but got runners on second and third base in the third at bat.
Norbert Jongerius led off with a single, but was forced out on a grounder by Remco Draijer.
Hereafter, Zerzinho Croes was hit by a pitch and the two runners moved on a grounder by Nick Urbanus.
They were left behind when a flyout ended the inning.
After Amsterdam had left two runners in scoring position in the third inning, Pioniers came alongside in the top of the fourth off of starter Robin Schel.
In the first three innings, the lefthander had allowed only one batter to reach base, but he stranded on first base.
In the fourth, Schel gave up a lead-off double to Mervin Gario, who moved to third on a grounder.
After Jeffrey Arends walked, Gario scored on a sacrifice fly by Dudley Leonora.
Shurman Marlin then singled and Max Draijer followed with a runscoring double that made it a 2-2 score.
This time, it was Pioniers that left runners behind on second and third base, as a grounder closed the at bat.

Amsterdam immediately responded with three runs of its own in the bottom of the fourth inning to re-take the lead.
Kenny Berkenbosch led off with a walk and scored when Danny Rombley followed with the first Amsterdam-homerun in the Championship Pool.
Hereafter, Rashid Gerard walked, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Max Clarijs and scored the next run on a double by Norbert Jongerius to make it a 5-3 score.
Both teams were held scoreless in the fifth and sixth inning.
Both defenses turned a double play in the sixth.
Pioniers narrowed the deficit to 5-3 in the top of the seventh.

He retired the next three batters, but amongst that was a sacrifice fly from Glenn Bakker that brought in Marlin.

The lefthander was greeted with a runscoring single from lefthanded hitting Nick Urbanus, then walked Gilmer Lampe.
With two outs, Danny Rombley delivered a runscoring single to make it a 7-3 score.
Daan Hendrix had a good outing in closing the game after taking over in the seventh.
The righthander retired the side in the eighth.
In the ninth, Hendrix got two baseunners when Shurman Marlin and Max Draijer both singled with one out.
Hendrix followed with a strikeout, then a force out ended the inning and the game.
As Hendrix threw three complete innings as a closer in a winning situation, he was credited with a save.
