Game 4 between Cubs and Nationals rains out
Nederlands
CHICAGO, Illinois (USA) -
Game Four of the best-of-five National League Division Series between Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals was canceled on Tuesday-afternoon (October 10) due to inclement weather.
The game has been re-scheduled for Wednesday-afternoon.
Chicago opened the Series on Friday with a 3-0 shutout-win.
Washington then won 6-3 on Saturday-evening to even the Series.
On Monday-evening, Chicago won 2-1 to take a 2-1 lead in the NLDS.
Scheduled starting pitchers were Jake Arrieta (Chicago) and Tanner Roark (Washington).
Both are expected to be the starters again on Wednesday when the game is made up.
Both teams prepared for the game by taking batting practice on the field.
However, rain was predicted and out of precaution the tarp was put onto the field after completion of batting practice.
With that, the start of the game was delayed.
Just before the starting time of 5:38 PM, the Managers and representatives of both teams met with officials of Major League Baseball to discuss the situation.
Another meeting followed at 6 PM and the game was then officially canceled some 15 minutes later.
