Second game Pioniers vs. Neptunus rains out
Nederlands
HOOFDDORP (Neth.) -
The second game of the 3-game series between Hoofddorp Pioniers and Curaçao Neptunus on Saturday (May 13) was cancelled due to rain and field conditions.
The game has been re-scheduled for coming Tuesday-evening (May 16) at Hoofddorp, starting at 7:30 PM.
When it became clear that the main-field at the Pioniers-complex had become unplayable for today's game (which was scheduled to start at 2 PM), the match-up was initially moved to the second field with a new starting time of 3:30 PM.
There, after more rain, it didn't take that long for that field to also become unplayable due to sometimes heavy rain.
And with that, the umpiring crew cancelled the game.
Righthanders Lars Huijer (Pioniers) and Elton Koeiman (Neptunus) were the announced starters for today's game.
After the cancellation, Neptunus' Head Coach Ronald Jaarsma announced that Koeiman will now pitch on Sunday.
Sunday's scheduled starter Kevin Kelly could be the starter in the make-up game next Tuesday.
However, Kelly also might see action in relief on Sunday and with that, no starter has yet been announced for Tuesday-evening.
Pioniers' Head Coach Dè Flanegin confirmed that lefthander Nick Keur will be his starter on Sunday.
Keur already was scheduled to start the third game of the series on that day.
No starter has yet been announced for Tuesday.
As of now, that almost surely won't be Huijer, as he is scheduled to start Thursday's game against league-leader L&D Amsterdam Pirates.
On Thursday-evening, Neptunus opened the series against Pioniers in Rotterdam with a 6-2 victory.
Sunday's game also will be played in Rotterdam.
The make-up game on Tuesday will be played in Hoofddorp.
