Thursday-games Championship Pool rain out
Nederlands
HOOFDDORP / BUSSUM (Neth.) -
The two scheduled games for Thursday-evening (September 14) in the Championship Pool (or Play-Offs) were both canceled in the afternoon.
As it had rained (again) throughout the day, the playing sites in Bussum and Hoofddorp Pioniers became unplayable, resulting in the cancelation.
Curaçao Neptunus, the current leader in the Championship Pool, was scheduled to play in Hoofddorp against Hoofddorp Pioniers.
L&D Amsterdam Pirates, which is in second place, had to travel to Bussum for the opener its series against HCAW.
Both Neptunus and Amsterdam Pirates are one win away from deciding this Pool and clinch a spot in the all-deciding best-of-seven Holland Series, which opens on Thursday, September 28.
According to the rules, canceled games in this Pool are re-scheduled for the following day.
However, both games have been re-scheduled for Monday-evening, September 18, as on Friday (September 15), the National Fundraiser 'Netherlands helps Saint Martin' will take place to raise money for Saint Martin, which was hit hard last week by Hurricane Irma.
The event, which will take place in Hilversum, will be broadcast live on television and radio.
NPO Radio 2 starts broadcoasting from 6 AM and continues throughout the day.
NPO 1-television will broadcast frequent updates, then goes live from 9:20 PM.
Art Rooijakkers will be presenting the event.
Several players of the Netherlands Kingdom Team are scheduled to participate in the event to show their support.
Last week, the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB) already stated that ''the relations within the Kingdom are very precious to the KNBSB and Team Kingdom of the Netherlands''.
The KNBSB ''wishes everyone who is affected by Hurricane Irma a lot of strength''.
