UVV got into scoring position in the first and second inning, then was retired in order in the third at bat.
After three complete innings, the team trailed 10-0 and the game was played!
And with that, UVV chances to stay in the highest league got slimmer.
On Sunday, the team not only has to win its remaining game in this Pool, but also has to hope that Storks loses twice to Onze Gezellen.
Only then, the team has a chance to prolong its stay, as a series of tiebreaker-games then has to be played to decide who will be the final team that will complete the top-4 of the Promotion/Relegation Pool.
Donny Breek started for DSS after returning earlier in the week from Canada, where he participated with the Netherlands Under-18 Team in the World Championship Under-18.
The righthander got two quick outs in the first inning, then walked Berend Ruben and gave up a single to Sergino Martis.
A line drive by Rodney Daal ended the at bat.
In the second inning, with one out, Breek gave up a single to Julian Goins and walked Rick Kuipers.
He followed with a strikeout and a flyout closed the at bat.
DSS struck with three runs in the bottom of the first inning off of starter Timo van Ancum, the first of six pitchers UVV used today.
The righthander immediately got the bases loaded when lead-off hitter Kevin Nieveld reached on an error and both Odion Gouverneur and Koen Halderman walked.
Omar Williams, who last season was the leading hitter of UVV, followed with a 2-run single to put DSS ahead.
The third run was added on a sacrifice fly by Tino van Erk.
Van Ancum followed with a strikeout, then gave up a double to Tommy van de Sande, but closed with another strikeout.
Like Donny Breek, Halderman and Van de Sanden also played in Canada a week ago.
After a scoreless second inning, DSS decided the game with a 7-run rally in a long third at bat.
Omar Wiliams led off with a walk, but was forced out on a grounder by Tino van Erk.
The bases then got loaded when Devano Pieter singled and Tommy van de Sanden walked.
Another walk followed for Thomas Bos, which resulted in a run and a pitching change.
Kevin van Veen took over, but he saw DSS add six more runs.
Van Veen was first greeted with a runscoring single from Mitchel Dautzenberg.
More runs were added when Kevin Nieveld followed with a sacrifice fly, Odion Gouverneur singled in two runs and Koen Halderman and Omar Williams added back-to-back, runscoring doubles.
That lifted the lead to 10-0 and brought in a new pitcher.
José Moreno took over and gave up a single to Tino van Erk, but a grounder then ended the inning.
Moreno last pitched on August 5, throwing two innings as reliever in a 4-3 loss against L&D Amsterdam Pirates.

Trailing 10-0, UVV scored what would be its lone run in the game when Rodney Daal led off the fourth inning with a homerun.
With one out, Julian Goins walked and pinch-hitter Jordan Illis reached on an error, but the DSS-defense then turned an inning-ending double play.
DSS added a run in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Tommy van de Sanden, then rallied for five more runs in the sixth.
Jonah Van Bemmelen started the sixth inning for UVV.
The American righthander began with a walk for Van de Sanden, who moved on a wild pitch, then reached third base on a single by Thomas Bos.
Hereafter, Van Bemmelen gave up a runscoring infield-hit to Mitchel Dautzenberg.
With one out, Odion Gouverneur doubled in the next run, which brought in Jimmy Osinga as new pitcher for UVV.
He also was unable to stop the DSS-offense.
Osinga was greeted with an RBI-double from Koen Halderman, then got the bases loaded when he hit Omar Williams with a pitch and walked Tino van Erk.
With two outs, the next run was scored when Tommy van de Sanden also walked.
With the bases still loaded, Roderick Hennekes then became UVV's sixth pitcher this afternoon and got an inning-ending flyout.
DSS turned another double play in the top of the fifth inning.
With two outs in the sixth, Donny Breek walked Randy Daal and Julian Goins.
He was then relieved by Lars Vogelaar, the fourth DSS-player who participated in the World Championship in Canada.
Vogelaar saw both runners advance on a wild pitch and got the bases loaded when he walked Jordan Illis, but a comeback-grounder then ended the at bat.
In the top of the seventh, Vogelaar gave up a 2-out single to Berend Ruben.
A flyout then ended the inning and the lopsided game.
