 Pioniers opens exhibition season with two wins

 HOOFDDORP (Neth.) -
Hoofddorp Pioniers opened its exhibition season on Saturday (March 18) by playing two games at its home site.
First, the team played against Omron Pioniers, its second team, which is one of 16 teams that will play in the second highest league, the 'Overgangsklasse'.
The big league-squad won with a 15-3 score.
In the afternoon, Pioniers played against RCH-Pinguïns, another team from the 'Overgangsklasse'.
This time, Pioniers won 6-5 in a 7-inning game.
Both games were played on Field #2 of the Pioniers-complex.

Hoofddorp Pioniers vs. Omron Pioniers
In its first game today, Hoofddorp Pioniers initially faced an 1-0 deficit halfway the first inning.
Joey Eeman then reached on an infield-hit and later scored on a double by Tommy van Limburg off of starter Nick Keur.
Eeman got three infield-hits in this game.
In the bottom of the first inning, Pioniers scored twice thanks to a double by Mervin Gario.
Pioniers took more distance in the third at bat when it rallied for six runs, highlighted by a 2-run homerun by Shurman Marlin.
In the fourth inning, the second Pioniers-squad got two runs back.
Both runs were scored on a single by Tommy van Limburg, who batted in all three runs.
In the past, Van Limburg has pitched several seasons for the main squad in the Dutch big league and also pitched for the Netherlands National Team.
With an 8-3 lead, Pioniers took more distance in the remainder of the game, which was halted after 5½ inning.

Hoofddorp Pioniers vs. RCH-Pinguïns
In its second game of the day, Hoofddorp Pioniers initially appeared to off to a big score.
The team led 6-0, but in the end won only 6-5.
Pioniers led 6-0, while starter Glenn Wassink held opponent RCH-Pinguïns scoreless.
But in the last two innings of the 7-inning match-up, RCH-Pinguïns scored five runs off of relievers Maickel Rietel and Bayron Cornelisse to cut the deficit to only 6-5.
Offensively, Pioniers had a productive outing.
Catcher Sander Paap got to bat five times in the game and went 5-for-5.
