Kevin Heijstek had another strong outing on the mound for Amsterdam Pirates.
The righthander retired the side in the first two innings and gave up only three basehits in the six innings he pitched.
Heijstek struckout four batters and raised his record in the Championship Pool to 5-0.
Dennis Burgersdijk threw the final three innings for Pirates to earn his third save.
Amsterdam opened the score in the bottom of the second inning off of Jim Ploeger, who went the distance for HCAW.
The lefthander retired the side in the first inning, but then gave up a lead-off single to Kenny Berkenbosch in the second at bat.
Berkenbosch moved on a wild pitch, reached third base on a single by Danny Rombley and then scored on a grounder by Linoy Croes.
A double play and a flyout ended the at bat.
Amsterdam added its next run in the third inning.
Max Clarijs led off with a double into centerfield where Rachid Engelhardt lost the ball in the lights and saw it end up behind him.
Clarijs advanced on a single by Norbert Jongerius.
When the latter was forced out on a grounder by Remco Draijer, Clarijs scored to make it a 2-0 score.
Draijer later stranded on second base.
In the top of the fourth inning, Roelie Henrique led off for HCAW with a double, which was the team's first basehit.
Moments later, Kevin Dirksen flied out to centerfielder Remco Draijer.
Henrique clearly left second base too early when the catch was made and so, the Amsterdam-defense made an appeal play on second base.
1B Umpire Henri van Heijningen also had seen that Henrique had left too early and raised his right arm to call him out, which completed a double play.
Heijstek then closed the inning with a strikeout.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Danny Rombley walked for Amsterdam with one out, but he stranded on third base.
Hereafter, with two outs, Rashid Gerard lined the ball down the leftfield-line for a single.
Rombley reached third base stand-up, but on the throw towards third, Gerard didn't ran full-force towards second base and there, he became an unnecessary out, ending the inning.
Amsterdam made it a 3-0 score in the bottom of the fifth inning, but also left three runners behind.
With one out and Norbert Jongerius (fielder's choice) on first base, Remco Draijer singled to put runners on the corners.
Zerzinho Croes followed with a runscoring single to bring in Jongerius.
When an outfield-error followed, Draijer was able to reach third base.
The bases got loaded when next batter Gilmer Lampe walked, but the three runners were left behind when Jim Ploeger struckout the next two batters.
HCAW got a chance to do something back in the top of the sixth inning when it got its first two batters on base.
Raoell Kortstam led off with a walk and Delano Selassa singled.
But hereafter, Kortstam was forced out on third base and a double play ended the inning.
With a 3-0 lead in the top of the seventh inning, Dennis Burgersdijk took over the Amsterdam-pitching.
He hit lead-off hitter >b>Seb Visser, who advanced on a wild pitch, but stranded on second base when three grounders followed.
In the bottom of the seventh, Amsterdam took some more distance with two outs when Gilmer Lampe hit a towering homerun into left-centerfield, making it a 4-2 score.
HCAW cut the deficit in half in the top of the eighth inning off of Dennis Burgersdijk.
Kevin Weijgertse and Raoell Kortstam led off with singles, then the latter was forced out on a grounder by Delano Selassa.
When that was followed by a throwing error trying to complete a double play, Weijgertse scored and Selassa moved to second base.
With two outs, Selassa scored the next run on a double by Roelie Henrique to make it a 4-2 score.
But hereafter, Burgersdijk closed with a strikeout.
In the top of the ninth, Rossini Frolijk led off for HCAW and reached on an error, but with one out, his pinch-runner Koen Werkman was eliminated in a game-ending double play.
