HCAW plays two 6-inning games and wins twice
Nederlands

BUSSUM (Neth.) - HCAW was to play two games this weekend against its second team. However, on Saturday, the first game was cancelled due to rain. On Sunday (March 19), the teams were able to play and then played a marathon of more than 3½ hours.

Before today's start, it was proposed to play 12 innings. Everyone agreed, including the umpires, but it was also decided to stop after six innings for a brief break. When the action resumed, two new pitchers took the mound, the scoreboard returned to 0-0 and six more innings were played. With this, the two teams played two six-inning games.

The main-squad of HCAW won twice, 9-0 and 8-4.

In the two games combined, Rossini Frolijk and Koen Werkman collected three basehits.

Coming weekend, HCAW participates in the annual Jan van de Vegte Memorial Tournament in Nijmegen, organized by De Hazenkamp.

In the first six innings of today's double-header, HCAW won 9-0.

Four pitchers gave up only two basehits. Starter Ian Delemarre retired the first five batters he faced, then gave up a single to Arthur Lugtmeyer, but closed with a strikeout. Giovanni Tensen, the son of Pitching Coach Richard Tensen, took over in the third inning and retired the side. With one out in the fourth, he gave up a single to Diamond Silberie, but he also was left behind. After Oscar Meuris retired three batters in the fifth, Sedley Karel closed the first game. With two outs, he walked Timo Vos, but he also stranded on first base.

HCAW opened the score with two runs in the first inning off of starter Rik van Zwet. He gave up a lead-off double to Roelie Henrique, who scored on an one-out single by Vince Rooi, who went on to score himself on a wild pitch.

The final three runs in the first game were scored in the fifth inning off of Sean Wout, the younger brother of former big league-pitcher Danny Wout. With two outs, he gave up a double to Rossini Frolijk, then got the bases loaded when he walked Kevin Dirksen and hit Kevin Weijgertse. After Dylan Koster had walked, Werkman scored on a wild pitch. The bases got loaded when Delano Selassa singled and Roelie Henrique walked. Two runs were added when Boyd Tuhumury walked and Vince Rooi was hit by a pitch, then another wild pitch accounted for the next run.
