Amsterdam Pirates records big shutout-win against Hoofddorp Pioniers

AMSTERDAM (Neth.) -
L&D Amsterdam Pirates recorded a big 12-0 shutout-victory on Saturday (August 19) against Hoofddorp Pioniers in the second game of its opening series of the Championship Pool.
Last Thursday, Amsterdam opened with a 4-1 win.
The series closes on Sunday in Hoofddorp.
In today's game, Amsterdam collected 'only' ten basehits, but scored twelve runs.
Danny Rombley was 3-for-6, including a 3-run double, scored a run and batted in six.
Gilmer Lampe and Rashid Gerard both had two basehits.
Lampe scored four runs.
Gerard, who hit two doubles, batted in three runs, while Kenny Berkenbosch scored three.
Pioniers was limited to only three basehits off of Kevin Heijstek, who went the distance for Amsterdam.
Amsterdam took an early 4-0 lead in the first inning and scored three runs in both the third and sixth inning.
