Neptunus nips HCAW in Bussum

BUSSUM (Neth.) -
Curaçao Neptunus nipped HCAW 3-2 on Saturday-afternoon (August 19) in the second game of its opening series of the Championship Pool.
Neptunus won the opening game at home on Thursday-evening with a 6-2 score.
The series closes on Sunday in Rotterdam.
Neptunus took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Gianison Boekhoudt homered off of starter Kaj Timmermans
Boekhoudt also homered in the opener on Thursday.
However, after scoring the two opening-runs, Neptunus managed to add only one more run in the following eight innings.
From the sixth inning on, the suspense got back into the game, as HCAW scored a run, then narrowed the deficit to only 3-2 in the seventh at bat.
Neptunus-reliever Loek van Mil then gave up a lead-off single in the eighth inning, but that runner was forced out.
In the ninth, closer Berry van Driel struckout three batters to secure the win.
Neptunus collected 12 basehits, including three by Benjamin Dille.
HCAW registered five basehits off of Orlando Yntema, who threw six innings, struckout five batters and earned his first win of the season.
After completion of the sixth inning, Neptunus' Head Coach Ronald Jaarsma was ejected for making some remarks.
