 UVV decides game against Quick Amersfoort late

Pickles UVV decided its opening game of the Promotion/Relegation Pool on Saturday (August 19) against Quick Amersfoort late, winning 12-8.
The second game of this series will be played on Sunday in Amersfoort.
UVV finished the regular big league-season in sixth place, while Quick Amersfoort finished in second place in the second highest league ('Overgangsklasse').
UVV initially trailed 2-0 halfway the second inning, but then came alongside and took the lead in the third at bat.
After increasing its lead to 6-2, two suspenseful innings followed.
First, Quick narrowed the deficit to 6-4, but UVV answered with three runs to make it a 9-4.
That run-difference was far from comfortable, as Quick rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh , which made it a 9-8 score.
Finally, UVV decided the game in the bottom of the seventh when Rodney Daal hit a 3-run homerun.
Herafter, the pitching held Quick scoreless in the remaining two innings.
Quick Amersfoort outhit UVV 14-12, including three hits by Bas de Jong, who was the Best Hitter in the Dutch big league in three consecutive seasons (2012-2014), while playing for L&D Amsterdam Pirates.
De Jong also batted in three runs.
Rodney Daal recorded three hits for UVV, which were two doubles and a homerun.
He also scored three runs and batted in four runs.
