 Amsterdam Pirates completes sweep against Hoofddorp Pioniers

 HOOFDDORP (Neth.) -
L&D Amsterdam Pirates won 4-1 on Sunday (August 20) to complete a sweep against Hoofddorp Pioniers in its opening series of the Championship Pool.
Last Thursday, Amsterdam opened with a 4-1 win, then recorded a big 12-0 shutout on Saturday.
After three scoreless innings, Amsterdam Pirates rallied for three runs in the fourth inning, then added another one in the fifth.
Pioniers scored its lone run in the seventh, which was a homerun by Dudley Leonora.
Pirates collected 11 basehits today, including two by Zerzinho Croes, Nick Urbanus (two doubles) and Kenny Berkenbosch, who also batted in two runs.
Amsterdam-starter Robin Schel gave up only three hits in the six innings he pitched, striking out five hitters.
