It was UVV that opened the score in the top of the first inning off fo starter Ian Delemarre.
The righthander saw his former teammate Jelle Blaauw lead off with an infield-hit.
Hereafter, Blaauw advanced to third base on a single by Tijmen Takke.
Delemarre then got a comeback-grounder, but saw Blaauw score the opening run on a following grounder by Sergino Martis.
HCAW was retired in order in its first at bat, but then struck with five runs in the second inning.
That proved to be decisive.
With one out, UVV-starter Gilian van Lith got the bases loaded when he gave up a single to Kevin Weijgertse and walked Boyd Tuhumury and Rachid Engelhardt.
Seb Visser followed with a runscoring single to tie the score, then HCAW took the lead when next batter Sven Jongejans also singled.
Roelie Henrique accounted for the next run with a sacrifice fly and Van Lith got the bases loaded again when he walked Delano Selassa.
The lefthander then gave up a 2-run single to Vince Rooi, which increased the score to 5-1 in favor of HCAW.
The home-team added another run in the third inning.
Kevin Weijgertse led off with a single, advanced on a wild pitch and stole third base.
When next batter Boyd Tuhumury walked, a pitching change followed and José Moreno took over from Van Lith.
Tuhumury then was caught stealing, but a grounder by Rachid Engelhardt gave HCAW its sixth run.
UVV, which left a runner in the second and third inning, narrowed the deficit to 6-3 in the top of the fourth inning.
With one out, Julian Goins singled and Berend Ruben walked.
Cecil Comenencia followed with a runscoring single and the bases got loaded when Delemarre gave up a bunt-single to Rick Kuipers.
He then walked Jelle Blaauw, which resulted in a run and kept the bases loaded.
UVV left the three runners behind, as a strikeout and flyout ended the inning.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, HCAW scored what would be the insurance run and difference in the game.
With one out, Roelie Henrique singled and the speedy runner then scored all the way from first base on a triple by rookie Delano Selassa to make it a 7-3 score.
In the top of the fifth inning, UVV scored three runs with two outs to make it an one-run difference score.
Sergino Martis led off with a walk and Steven van Reem singled.
The two moved on a sacrifice bunt by Julian Goins and with two outs, Cecil Comenencia delivered another runscoring single.
That led to a pitching change.
Moreno Vork took over from Ian Delemarre, who therefore ended up 1/3 inning short of being credited with the win.
Comenencia then took off to steal second base, appeared to be caught, but reached safely when an error was made.
Vork then gave op a 2-run double to Rick Kuipers, which narrowed the deficit to only 6-5, and walked Jelle Blaauw.
Hereafter, Steven van Groningen took over the pitching, closed the inning and was credited with the win.
In the remainder of the game, both teams stayed scoreless.
José Moreno threw four strong innings for UVV after giving up runs in the third and fourth inning.
In the fifth, the righthander walked lead-off hitter Kevin Weijgertse, but then retired the next 12 batters in a row.
It was UVV that got several opportunities in the final three at bats to do some scoring.
In the seventh, UVV got the bases loaded when Berend Ruben led off with a single, Rick Kuipers singled (with one out) and Tijmen Takke walked (with two outs).
Van Groningen closed with a strikeout.
In the eighth, Oscar Meuris took over the HCAW-pitching.
He had runners on first and third base with two outs and also closed with a strikeout.
With two outs In the ninth, HCAW-closer Sedley Karel walked Tijmen Takke and hit Randy Daal with a pitch.
But hereafter, pinch-hitter Kevin van Veen grounded out.
That ended the game and earned Karel his second save.
