Small win Neptunus against Hoofddorp Pioniers

ROTTERDAM (Neth.) -
Curaçao Neptunus won only 3-0 in its opening game against Hoofddorp Pioniers on Thursday-evening (August 24) in the Championship Pool.
The series continues on Saturday in Hoofddorp.
Last week, Neptunus swept HCAW, which also included a small 3-2 score.
Tonight, Neptunus led only 1-0 halfway the eighth inning and then added two more (unearned) runs.
The team collected only five basehits off of Lars Huijer, who went the distance for Pioniers.
Diegomar Markwell threw a complete game for Neptunus and gave up only three hits.
With a playing time of one hour and 53 minutes, the game was one of the quickest in the postseason-history.
Neptunus opened the score in the fifth when Daniel Fernandes scored on an error that followed a single by Shaldimar Daantji.
The two runs in the eighth inning were also scored on an error.
With one out and runners on first and second base, a grounder by Benjamin Dille ended in an error, enabling both runners to score.
Jeffrey Arends, who tonight played at third base for Pioniers, hit two of his team's three hits.
