While this was an exhibition game between two big league-teams, for some reason, no umpires had been assigned. And so, Leo Markies, who is one of the Public Address Announcers of Amsterdam Pirates, was the Home Plate Umpire in this game. He was assisted in the field by Martin Osinga, the father of UVV-pitcher Jimmy Osinga, who last season played for Pirates. The two did a fine job in leading this 9-inning game.

While Amsterdam Pirates outhit UVV 10-6, it was only productive in the fifth and seventh inning. Seven of the ten basehits were registered in these two at bats.

Lefthander Kyle Ward started for Amsterdam and threw three fine innings. UVV reached base in all these at bats, but stranded a runner on first base each time.

In the top of the fourth inning, UVV took a 2-0 lead. With one out, Tijmen Takke and Julian Goins singled. The two advanced on a grounder by Berend Ruben, then both scored on a single by Roland Laurens. He had been used primarily as a pitcher in the previous games, but today was the designated hitter.

In the fifth, off of new pitcher Daan Hendrix, Rick Kuipers led off with a walk, moved on a sacrifice bunt by Jelle Blaauw and a grounder by Bryce Cherry, but then stranded on third base.

UVV-starter Kevin van Veen did well in the four innings he pitched. The veteran righthander gave up an one-out single in the first inning to Zerzinho Croes, but he was left behind on first base. In the third, Van Veen gave up a lead-off single to Rashid Gerard, but the UVV-defense then turned a double play.

Trailing 2-0, Pirates got one run back in the bottom of the fifth inning off of new pitcher Timo van Ancum. He began with a strikeout, but then gave up four basehits. Kenny Berkenbosch doubled, moved on a single by Linoy Croes and scored on a single by Danny Rombley. The bases got loaded when Rashid Gerard also singled. The three runners were left behind when an infield-fly and flyout ended the at bat.

Pirates came alongside in the sixth. With one out, Linoy Croes reached on an error, moved on a single by Rombley and scored on a single by Gerard, who was 3-for-3. On Gerard's hit, Rombley tried to advance to third base, but was eliminated there. Max Clarijs followed with another basehit, but this time, the home team stranded two runners.

José Moreno pitched the final two innings for UVV and retired the side in both the eighth and ninth inning.

UVV also didn't get more chances to score additional runs off of Nick Veltkamp and Gilmer Lampe. In the seventh, Cecil Comenencia led off with a single, but was forced out on a grounder by Rick Kuipers, who later stranded on second base. In the eighth, Tijmen Takke singled with one out, but also was forced out. In the ninth, Rick Kuipers reached on an error with one out, but he also was left behind.
